Doesnt matter where you live in the states..its all bad man. I used to live in Santa Clara in a relatively "safe" neighborhood. What happened...one week when my parents were vacationing in LA (I was 16-17 or so at the time) one of the dudes living on my street killed his wife and chopped her up into 5 pieces and put her in 5 separate buckets. The really sad part about all this is...they had a 1year old who pretty much saw it all.

Then I used to live in Cupertino (one of the richest areas in the Bay Area...probably due to the fact Asians are the majority here). What happened one day...these construction guys were working on this house across the street..they had to drill for some reason I forgot....what did one moron do...he hit a gas pipe and the thing blew up...that house burned down to ashes..fully. Me and my family were lucky because the wind blew directly towards my house ...you could see all the black smoke yet lucky it didnt catch on fire. I remember that day well because that boom in my living room that I heard happened exactly right after the second plane hit on Sept 11....

Both stories were on the news.

in malaysia, we are safe....
Police will protect us whenever they think its needed.
As long as you stay away from those politician, then you will not get BOMB.
As long as you are NOT affort to pay summon, you pay them for a coffee.
here, we do have labors for constructions, lucky, they just break in to robbery activity and sometimes people get injured after get raped by them.
Lucky to say that we dont have any of 911 case because we live in a Islamic country. (No offense to 911, I do feel sad on the incident)

anyway.... life goes on..........

After I left Piper Jaffray in 2003 I went to work in the family construction business in the midwest as CFO. The business had expanded over the years to include rentals. Some good, some not so good. One Friday I went out to collect on some overdue rents and was stopped by the local police. Seems the family at the house I was going to visit had all been killed. Evidently they had some drug problems that were resolved once and for all.

Yeah, no matter where you go - any where in the world - you can find a bad eliment.

Must be some time ago, Chula Juana does not exist, it's Chula Vista, and yes National City is bad, high drug use and gangs and alcoholics and poverty.
The whole south east of SD is also bad.
La jolla is nice but way to buzzy and extremely expensive, too many cars, too many people.

We're talking 30 years ago. Last time I was in SD was in the 80's. National City wasn't a bad area, but it was starting to get that way. Chula Vista was really upper middle class. SD was good to me. I remember terrible traffic on the 5, but I liked the area.

Well they solved the problems on the 5 in the la Jolla area, it is a 23 (!!!!) lane freeway now

You should pay more attention to the beauty in your region. Yosemite, Sequoia Nat. Park, Big Sur (before it got burned, but the beauty will come back), Death Valley, Redwoods, all not too far away.

Well, years ago we used to compare our crime rates to those of the US and it was relatively very low...but these days we are moving on the worst direction. Serious crimes (homicides, rapes, extortions, kidnapping) are comparable to the US. Some homicides are in fact very much of those shown on CSI. Graft and corruption are seemingly becoming the national norm, and it is pretty embarassing.
My point is, the bad and the good (and thus the ugly) do not dwell on a single nation (or race if suitable). We all bear the burden of it, regardless where we live.

I think you are the smartest of all of us, moving to the Philippines.
Cheap living, very nice climate and the whole day watching beautiful and friendly pinay.
