Ok I've taken another look at trade partners (who needs who ) and I believe everyone is f^@ked without the US. Germany exports to the US and others, and so does everyone else. The point is that the US is the only economy on the planet that can help the world out of a recession. The big question is not can the US help, but will the US help. If and only if the US will lower corporate tax rates and cut capital gains taxes, will the housing market improve and the rest of the economy here in the US. If the new prez and his minions play this wrong a dollar crash is ----and world wide depression is ----a certainty
Someone tell me I'm wrong please.

The way I see it, your exactly right. If the US drags the rest down, there is gonna be some pi$$ed off people out there at us. The question is (also) how long before other countries deside to have nothing to do with us.

Very interesting point, and I add, we are on a verge of a re-balance of economic powers, with the de-leveraging on financial institutions, no more easy money as before. There will be countries like China, India, Brazil may come into play their part.

The leverage that created this huge utopic bubble of pseudo-economic strength is deflating. This was bound to happen sooner or later, the question is if the markets are going to solve this by themselves, or if there are still some gonvernments that will insist in sustaining their economy on an unreal level, the latter still looks like the option, unfortunately.

Should all of this come to ground, we'll realize that for many years we've been living at a level that was inflated by these easy loans, not reality. It will be an essential step, if it's not taken now, it will be sooner or later. It's ot a matter of *if*, it's more of *when*. It's a huge castle of cards.

Until then, I'll scalp whatever I can and cash in, I just need to guess in what type of asset...

No offense knuckledrag but I believe you got it bass ackward.

Germany exports to the US and so does everyone else. That part is undeniable. But the US is not the only economy and it cannot help to the same level it used to.

The US ultimately finances it's purchases by selling bonds to China. They are doing this because it's the proverbial life support that the US economy is on. In return, China has a large market to sell to and makes rickshaws full of interest.

The catch is that China could say "hey, why are we supporting these American bums? Sure, they're providing us with a market to sell our goods but they're paying what they owe us by issuing more postdated checks in the form of bonds".

Well guess what, they have. China recently had protests because their economy grew by "only" 7.5% this year as opposed to the double digit growth they have seen for the past 20 years. So their government created a "stimulus" package.

The one major difference with an American style stimulus package is that the Chinese paid it with their savings. The Americans however, issued theirs with a "credit card". Meaning that they sold bonds to finance the stimulus on which they will have to pay interest later.

So now China, as a result of this stimulus package, is at the dawn of creating their very own middle class where they can consume the very goods they produce. This will be similar to what America did after the second world war. They will be building roads, bridges to go with the Chery brand cars they are already building.

America on the other hand is trying to dig themselves out of debt by getting into more debt. That's just like trying to kick a heroin habit by sticking more needles in your veins.

For Oanda traders: Off topic but I just saw that on Oanda's site... they now have a Wap2 mobile trading platform! I can trade from my measly Nokia 3500 so it must be working even better on bigger phones (no charts yet, though... but I can always check them first on MGForex mobile demo hehe).

I really hope your right. I don't think the global economy can take a dollar crash. Yes China can take care of itself, but I think it is one of the few.
On the dollar subject: When the rate cut comes out Tuesday are you thinking consolidation-up-down?
I tend to think it will be priced in. Where we go from Tuesday I'm not sure.

The day when the major trend line got broken is the day of a fresh trend. I don`t think the market is going to take it back all of a sudden...

As sad as it may be, there some truths and falsities in the above. Fact being that we, as a whole, are all part of the worlds economy as we know it today. Are we all in tough times? Yes. The fact that the USA kind of leads the pack cannot be denied. As the US goes the world goes. If US hurts, the world hurts. Is it right? Maybe not, but we cannot dispute the fact. No matter if we make money in forex or not, it is in the world economies best interest that the US first gets it's shit together and the rest will fall into place. We all need each other and we all need each other’s economies to be successful and people need to be working and supporting their own countries local, regional, state and overall economic stability. Do we need to trade amongst ourselves - yes! BUT, we all must take care of our own first and not rely on the US to be the big brother, sister, father and/or mother to fix things when they are bad or not going our way. We are stronger together in numbers then we are splintered in small groups. Hopefully, the US's new guy will lead the entire world into better times for all! 2009 will be a very interesting year for all of us! With all that BS being said, Hope that all of you have a very memory filled holiday season and may the pips be with you, now and for years to come!

Trends change with perspective ( time frame ). Yes the new 1hour trend is up, but I need to see a lot more than a line break to think the daily trend has changed.
