im not a scalper
scalping is too risky for me but when i see wedge then why not till breakout
how many pips ?

vary 50-100 pips from one triangle
and sometimes more depend on size of range

id still wait for 1.4530+ before considering any serious long position, this is still within the channel and below the neckline


Edit: first serious confirmation of attempts to break up is if 1.4515 becomes support (if your wondering where i got 15 from, heres how i see it. a break up would be sustained for some time, maybe a few hours. this means we gotta look at the longer term candlesticks 1h/4h. not one closed higher then 1.4515 which makes it a resistance for now...the first candlestick to close above it on 1h/4h charts would suggest its a support)

It is a revolutionary new system called coin flip.

But seriously.I don't have a system, I am what they call a discretionary trader.

I use many indicators, and sometimes no indicators. Fibanacci, pivot points. I use them all, I use fundamentals also. I make the decisions, I have full freedom (which is hard to get used to).

I trade any pair, with my common sense. I don't have a "set conformation".

If I make a losing trade, I am the only one to blame, not any "system".

Never sell @ lower upward channel unless breacked and vise versa .

10 pips / day in a cut seem to be stable to me.

I had days with 50 pips but usually as soon as I go for that number I loose all earnings and more.

I analyze all my previous failures and there is one singular pattern there: GREED. Prime example again yesterday, I could have taken 550 USD profit when line was trying to break 4440 but I was greedy for more and waited. Result: 700 USD lost in the spike. No cookie for me yesterday.

I’m scalping even that I don’t like that word.
I do it on 5 and 15 min TF and get signals on 1M TF mostly based on candlesticks, trend lines, psych levels and fibs.
This is hard work and is not what I recommend to start as a newbee.
The daily profit is like you mentioned, depending the hours you work, I trade between 8 to 12 hours a day, but there are days that I loose especially on fast moving markets.
Good thing is that you don’t need to know about fundamentals etc. only what is the daily trend. Today was easy cause of the range between pivot and R1, 64 pips so far.

I was freaking out and pondering cutting my trades, until I read this acumen's earlier post, and then I realized something.

This is exactly what happened with the AUD/USD a couple days ago. It shot so freakin' high up, it knocked out one of my sells, but the other one - the one I had a much wider s/l on, survived for +315 pips.

My point is, I'm starting to think that this is a common trend lately before rate announcements. They shoot way the heck up, knock out any non-long term sells, and then they plummet post rate announcement.

I'm short, and I'm holding my short because I do not believe this downtrend is going to change today, and I believe the rate announcements will bring the pair down.

Now, I may be wrong - and if that's the case, I will lose a bit of money - but I'm ok with that, because it will mean I lost money on the biggest upward move in weeks, and possibly the beginning of the end of this colossal bear run.
