caught a straddle short at 235.95 after the news. I think the balance of the gbp/jpy lies with the gbp/usd....The yen is strengthening and looks to continue.

Ah as I speak the sell off continues.. 234.70/80 is the last hope before it turns ugly.

I wouldn't open any long position now as it's falling like a rock, I don't want to get hit by the rock.

IMO wait for breakout back to the north before long.

except BOJ raising rates next week

Not to mention the fact that a "liquidation" of carry trades becomes a self fulfilling event. As more get out the capital flows strengthen the yen further and the costs to repay the loans get higher and higher. No one wants to be the last man selling yen so a panic ensues. Check out the last time a liquidation occured. The yen moved EIGHT BIG FIGURES IN A DAY.

The Euro Central Bank website usually has streaming video of Trichet's press conferences. Is this a press conference or a private speech? Either way, check out the website. Trichet is a good speaker, very animated.

They do have the old ones. but the streaming one...Not able to find any.
Anyway ..i will be happy if gbp goes above 236.
The US news due after 2 hours is another hurdle.

Most probably, it won't go up to that price anymore..the reason why I closed my long, I saw something that I didn't see yesterday....

Let us check the US news before forming any hope.
