Really want to get this book, just making sure I am in the ballpark range for price. Has anyone found it for cheaper then ~$450 anywhere?

Thanks

Mike

I thought about this book as well, I have heard good things about it and since Merlin says it worth the price I may go in and get it. But $600? damm.

I have an original first edition signed by AA Milne to my Grandmother when she was six years old, "Now We Are Six"

$600 would not even get me to talk to someone about selling it. LOL

Rare books can be very collectable and valuable.

I know the book was better known as a work by Thorp.

But his co-author Professor Kassouf might well be a source of valuable knowledge too.

Incase anyone is interested on Professor Kassouf's works/books, these are available for access at his site.

"Professor Sheen Kassouf was a founding faculty member in the UCI Department of Economics. With continued worldwide interest in his work, the Department is pleased to announce the establishment of a website whereby his publications can be accessed for research purposes at no charge. Per copyright law, altering these publications is prohibited. This website was funded by a generous gift from Ned and Joyce Kassouf of The Kassouf Foundation to honor the legacy of Professor Kassouf."

http://www.econ.uci.edu/kassouf/

You can access a copy of Beat The Market from above web site.

EG

PS. Thank you to bunjow

Would one of you who have already downloaded the PDF mind email it to me. For some reason I can only access the first 50 pages through HTML at the website you posted:

www.econ.uci.edu/kassouf/pdfs/beatthemarket.pdf

Let me know. thanks

I wasn't familiar with Thorp until just now, but here's a quote off the Wikipedia page about him:

"In May 1998, Thorp reported that his personal investments yielded an annualized 20 percent rate of return averaged over 28.5 years."

Sounds like it would be an interesting read. Just curious, why is the book so valuable? Was it limited originally or was it banned or something like that?
