What is the candle opens in on top or below the 25 ema after crossing the 50 ema.

can i call it a confirmation of a trend?

All,

I have been trading forex for about 15 months and have been on found Forex Factory for about ~9 months, singed up as a user...

i have back tested 2550 w/GBP/JPY and have found the results to be not so favorable.. here are the results I have from 1/99 - 19/19/07:

What I did was download history from (MT) for these dates H4... Took the results calcualted 25EMA/ 50EMA, RSI and ATR myself (w/the help of Excel). With all this informaiton I was able to add a column to calculated if one should do a B/S (based on rules) and on those days I calculated ATR's.

Then created a MACRO W/VB (I do not have time to learn how to write programs in MT) and ran it. The results are in the attached excel sheet i am going to try to post both .xls and .xlsx (Office 2007) files without VB, as well as .xlsm (Office 2007 file w/VB). These Excel files are pretty large.

Note that the above results are with the original TP of 50 pips, I have calcualted a 6 pip spread (it is something like that in Oanda)

Also if someone can look over the data to assure that i have done everything right, I am almost ceratin the EMA's/RSI/ATR are correct (maybe .1% off due to rounding but should not matter) and give me feedback. I am NOT saying that this is a bad strategy as I may have miscalcualted...

i have looked at other pairs and they were not very good either

hmmm... i can not upload they are over 2MB each, how can I get them to you all???


UPDATE:
I have looked into this some more and MT4 history data is horrible!!! Many times missing etc, and when you have an ATR that is based on 100 periods if one is missing the data is wrong and so on and so forth so my calculations are wrong.... I will try to look at GBP/JPY on FXAccuCharts (it appears that this is what e. lang uses) and get back early next week

I suggest you forward test it for a period and then see the results. Backtesting doesn't guarantee you anything.

Thanks for all your hard work and effort you put into 2550. And thanks again for sharing this with us. As far as putting together a program to trade 2550, I would just say that a program cant foresee upcoming fundamentals that may take a positive trade to a negative trade. A small bit of human intervention may be required when trading currency,,,, just a thought. Thank GOD people like Effi are around to help, and people like me are around to read it and learn.

You're right that in a discretional system backtesting won't do it justice.
If anyone is put down by ilcapocamorr's first and negative post, do the following.

Take 8 or 6 Pairs. Back test or Forward test 2550 on the Daily Chart.
Average the income from all pairs on a per monthly basis.

Heck with 2550 trades on the daily chart we are floating at about:

+200 on NZD/USD
+400 on EUR/USD
+300 on USD/CHF
+330 on AUD/USD
+584 on USD/CAD

Thats about 1814 PIPs floating on Daily 2550 signals whos stop losses haven't been hit and this is in less than 1 trading month.

Consider how easy it is to trade. Your signal is issued on the Daily chart, there is nothing to think about, no TA to do, you just enter and set your SL.

Now just imagine trading not 5 pairs like in the above factual relation, but 8 or 10 or 20 pairs like some of my students do on the daily chart where signals are the strongest. You would be making crazy money every month and would only need about 1 hour a day to manage all the trades.

Even if the signal is False! - you're still in the money all you need to do is manage the position. I don't pretend to say that this is the Holy Grail, BUT, each trade entry gives you the opportunity to catch good price movement, more so on the daily chart. NOW, how you ACTUALLY manage the trade when you are up 50 or 100 or 500 Pips relies entirely on how successful of a conversation you can have with Mr. Greed Houlscrou Yu - the outcome of that is what generally titles your trade as a looser or a winner.
