As traders we have to find our edge on the charts, which is not that complicated.

Trump yesterday: "With the oil we're extracting from Venezuela, we've paid for the war against Iran about 25 times over. We're doing quite well in Venezuela."

So, it was not about Maduro but oil! The criminal Trump boasts about the plundering of Venezuela's oil and claims that the stolen money has paid for the war against Iran. It turns out that the admirable American democracy is nothing more than a den of thieves and criminals. But we've known that for many years. It's just that this one doesn't even try to hide it anymore; it brags about it.

Poor Venezuela, the USA is looting them, their army and leaders betrayed them, and those who pay the price are their citizens. But the Venezuelans are free

Failure in a Red Tie

I’m watching this Iran TACO diplomacy unfold and honestly wondering whether I’m witnessing foreign policy malpractice, geopolitical performance art, or the world’s most expensive toddler tantrum.

If even half of what’s being reported is accurate, Donald Trump has managed to do what only a uniquely incompetent, pathologically narcissistic president could do: destroy an existing diplomatic framework, drag the world toward war, destabilize the global economy, kill thousands, and then crawl back toward a deal that appears worse than the one he tore up in the first place simply because Barack Obama’s fingerprints were on it.
That takes a remarkable level of stupidity.

Let’s remind ourselves how we got here. Trump ripped up the Iran nuclear agreement not because he had something smarter, stronger, or strategically coherent waiting in the wings, but because his diseased ego cannot tolerate the existence of anything associated with a predecessor he despises. The JCPOA wasn’t perfect. No diplomatic agreement ever is. But it imposed constraints, inspections, accountability, and, this matters, it did so without setting the Middle East on fire.

Then comes Trump. Chest puffed out, hammering away on Truth Social in the middle of the night, cosplaying wartime strongman, threatening annihilation, sending warships, rattling sabers like a drunk uncle at Thanksgiving who suddenly thinks he’s Patton because he watched three war documentaries and half of Top Gun.
And now here we are.

Iran may keep enriched uranium. Iran may maintain leverage over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran may continue collecting tolls through one of the most strategically critical waterways on earth. Iran may receive billions. And the United States gets… what exactly? A press conference? Another sweaty declaration that this is the greatest peace agreement in human history?

If this is true, it is not diplomacy. It is surrender gift-wrapped as bravado.
The sheer absurdity would be laughable if it weren’t soaked in blood and economic consequence. We’re talking about a president who in his narcissistic, dementia ridden psychosis tore up a functioning agreement, launched what many constitutional scholars would argue was an illegal and unauthorized war without congressional approval, helped trigger global market instability, terrified allies, emboldened adversaries, and now appears to be negotiating from a weaker position than where we started.

And because Trump is Trump, if this deal materializes, he will undoubtedly lurch to a podium, inflate that orange thorax of his, and tell us this is the most extraordinary peace agreement ever conceived by mortal man. “Sir,” the generals will say, tears in their eyes, “we’ve never seen such brilliance.”

Failure in a red tie. That’s all this has ever been.
