Yen already started to weak as fck since last few weeks! if they pop on due to market volatility most probably going to sell off overall trend is down minor catalysts wont change anything unless BOJ taking some serious steps to defend yen. Otherwise, (same o same o) pop and drop until something some major intervention side! Good luck !!!

USD/JPY is up 37.80 at the moment on IG's weekend index.
I imagine this is thinly traded as the spread is currently 14pips.

"Many opposition and ruling parties are calling for steps to boost wages, which could make it hard for the BOJ to hike rates until there is more clarity on next year's wage developments," said Naoya Hasegawa, chief bond strategist at Okasan Securities.

"If the ruling coalition loses, markets will start to price in the chance of aggressive fiscal spending and a delay in further interest rate hikes," he said.

Global differentials are already changing against the jpy, and there's still a lot of bloat in a carry trade. The jpy is done being at the levels it was, and the rate of change is going to accelerate at the first catalyst. On the 31st you'll see a sell off in shorting the JPY as the recent trade will conclude. This market should be sideways for awhile with at most a small drift, prob to the upside for the jpy, If Trump wins the USD will go down, as projected, there will be political pressure to make rates lower.
