Data will differ from broker to broker. Both candles are easy to understand. USDJPY on the other hand is not so easy to understand. Price is almost at all time highs and keeps going higher. My guess is that the market is maybe waiting for BoJ intervention. For the time being UJ is in an incredible uptrend
by the way are you from portugal or brasil? or do you just like the "ola" greeting ?

I see C 1/3 as taking control, and 2/3 did not close below the low of C 1/3, so 1/3 remains in control. To add more confidence, the trend is with C1, and the operative slope (if represented by the blue line above) has not been broken, either by low wicks or low closes. Wait for Strat to weigh in though, as my read may differ - especially re: channel confidence.

Fundamentally, I agree with Bistolis - could be looking at nasty noise until some unforseeable event occurs that goes against any and all analysis. Wait for that to happen, for normal price action to resume, and then take a fresh look. The only way I would be trading it before that would be in the smaller TF's, where the daily whip can be seen as tradable swings.

Bill Williams book my mother bought me back then. And he has a saying that I feel needs to be heard by any trader who is or was in my position:

WANT WHAT THE MARKET WANTS.

This translates to TRADE WHAT YOU SEE ON YOUR CHART - NOT WHAT YOU THINK

I was very protective of my Strat Shadow and hated the template collectors and trolls getting it but it is useless and only a bunch of MAs without the UNDERSTANDING of what it is, what it tells us and HOW and WHEN to use the information it presents to us. It's like an Ikea kit, car kit or any kit - if you don't READ and UNDERSTAND the instructions, all you have is a pile of junk. Over all these years I have seen people take it, use it, modify it and end up junking it because they thought it worthless all because they did not know what to do with it.

The complete Strat Shadow is 9, 20, 72 and 200 - all EMAs. How many and which you use will all come down to how you develop your personal PASR trading style, however, the core are the 20 and 72 which are the heart of my personal trading style. Don't let these divert you off THE PATH - read, learn and UNDERSTAND PASR as it is presented in these two threads - yes it is a lot to go through but you can skip many of the posts which do not add value to your learning.

Feel free to ask any questions anytime and as I posted earlier, bistolis has take you under his wing and may be more helpful as I take PASR for granted now

Bistolis, 100% friend. Im not touching it at this stage as it's in uncharted territory in wide open seas and I'm yet to master a puddle.

Australia actually. I just like the energy an Ola brings.

Thank you Barbaresco. Good information regarding taking control and staying in control. I'll look for more of that kind of activity and what happens after.

Much appreciated Strat. The invitation to openly ask any questions and that I have someone reviewing my notes over my shoulder makes the daunting learning mountain infront of me look all the more doable.

Thank you, yes at this point in my hands it's just a bunch of colours on a chart. So pretty. I want to make sure I have the right settings so while I'm learning all the other aspects I can learn them all alongside their relation to these. PA, SR, Trendlines and how they relate etc etc. I'll keep digging until I find more information.

trading it in real time - here is where the real challenge is. Here is where you meet your "Little People" - full front and centre!

Trading at the HARD RIGHT EDGE separates the men from the boys and the women from the girls. It will either make you or break you - as you read through the threads you will see many that it "broke". Some can do it, some need to persevere until they overcome their "Little People" - FEAR and GREED, while some simply just cannot do it. You just have to jump in with both feet with REAL, HARD EARNED, LIVE money and DO IT! YOU will win and you will LOSE and how you address this will define the rest of your trading career.

Paper trading, definitely NOT demo trading, is good but REAL trading with REAL money at stake is the only way to experience and test your knowledge. Accept that we all have "hang ups" when we trade "LIVE" - mine are draw down and losing - I am sill not good at either, probably, as Barbaresco pointed out, because I want to be perfect.

There will be many times when your analysis is correct but you still end up losing - accept this is the Market doing it's "thing" to screw us retail traders up and learn to read when this is happening.

Always remember, like all other systems, methods, strategies, robots, algos etc., etc., PASR is not perfect and you WILL lose - this is where you have to develop your Risk and Money Management to suit your PASR trading style.

In general, when the trend is so strong as on GBP/NZD today, PRICE tends to be a bit far from the Strat Shadow

Yes, that is how PASR "measures" trend strength but you are getting ahead of yourself and THE PATH.

Again, you are getting ahead of yourself and THE PATH. Understanding PASR, the Strat Shadow and YOU, will give you the confidence and trust you have not earned yet - learn to walk before running.

"Ola" - Spanish and "NOT TODAY SKIP" - Australian lingo

No wonder you confused us!

It's really good that you have done this but why didn't you mark up the specific candles you are referring to as I have done in my copy of your chart? I think Barbaresco is referring to C1, C2 and C3 whereas bistolis and I think it is 1, 2 and 3!

Next it is really difficult to comment on a miniscule slice of a pie without seeing the whole pie.

In terms of candle recognition, you are correct but remember that an engulfing candle is much more powerful when the body of the candle completely engulfs the body of the prior candle.

Again, without seeing the BIG PICTURE, my comments on these 7 "slice of the pie" candles are:

C1 is the candle telling me the BUYERS are in control and have the strength. It would be even stronger if there was SR near it.

C2 confirms the buying strength.

C3 is an Inside Candle suggesting a PAUSE in buying while waiting for other buyers to join.

The candle after that without a number, is more buyers joining in - notice how it's body completely engulfs the Inside Candle's body

"1" candle is where everybody and his uncle heard that USDJPY is being bought and joined in.

"2" candle is - who the hell knows? Only the Institutional Traders can answer this. I would guess at some news rocking their boat or do they just want to screw everyone?

"3" candle is where the Institutional Traders buy at a DISCOUNT and resume the move up.

My "short" trend line on these 7 candles suggest continuation of the move up.

Having said all that, bistolis and Barbaresco know better than I on this pair as I have not followed it for months. USDJPY has always been the "RISK ON", "RISK OFF" pair. Remembering back to Dr. Joe, this pair will continue to move up UNTIL the buyers stop buying and where that is, only the BOJ knows. Another aspect of USDJPY is that, similar to SNB with CHF, they can turn on a dime, any second, which for us in the West, is usually while we are between the sheets with a loved one!

Sorry I should clarify I was also talking about 1,2,3 as labeled in Strat's chart. Strat please correct me on the analysis if needbe.
