Hi all, I have made some analysis based on the CSM indicator from this post:

I am not posting any trades made based on CSM indicator, but only share some statistical information derived based on past indicator values and currency high,lows. The indicator values are generated with daily data derived from Dukascopy tick data which are downloaded using Tick Data Suite - Birt's eareview.net.

Parameter used:
NumberofCandles:1 to 96 at interval of 5
ApplySmoothing: True
TriangularWeighting: True
Period used: D1
Test period: Year 2010 - 2020
Data source:
Currency involved: AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, JPY, NZD, USD

Result:


CSM_Param： Number of Candles used to calculate Currency Strength Meter
P_Bars: Number of past bars for P_max, P_min
F_Bars: Number of future bars for F_max, F_min
F_max: Maximum value over a specific number of future bars (F_bars)
F_min: Minimum value over a specific number of future bars (F_bars)
P_max: Maximum value over a specific number of past bars (P_bars)
P_min: Minimum value over a specific number of past bars (P_bars)

CSM_Lower: The lower range of Net Currency Strength Meter Value
CSM_Upper: The upper range of Net Currency Strength Meter Value
The sample shown in above image will have a net CSM value of 67 (81[GBP]-14[JPY]) for GBPJPY, it will fall under range with CSM_Lower(60) and CSM_Upper(70) in the analysis.

F_max > P_max, F_min > P_min (Trend Up):

Conclusion:
Avoid trading when the net CSM value is between -30 and 30 as the direction is indecisive.
Look for buy setup when net CSM value above 30.
Look for sell setup when net CSM value below -30.

This is my first time posting in FF. Feel free to let me know if I have missing out important details.

I am a long time user of the CSM original and it works very well in terms of function. My one challenge is to position the CSM in a fixed chart position ie on the right hand side of the window, I am a novice programmer and have used anchors and the x offset to achieve this with other indicators, crude but works fine.

I have looked at the code in the CSM original and also the mqh include files and have trialled changing a few settings to see if i can achieve this, but no success. I have read the thread and can see Hanover intentionally made it move with Time[0] ie the candles as you scroll the screen but this is not what i would like to achieve. When I have the chart shift setting on I would like the CSM up against the right side of sub window and clear of the candles, this would allow me to use the space under the candles

Has anyone tried this or can offer any guidance on the settings to change, from my tinkering (thank goodness for the undo ctrl-Z function), I just mess it up as it looks like a number of calls to different functions are involved to construct the complete CSM view

I'm happy to spend time and trudge through stuff and have done a lot of googling but to no avail and given this is a specific indie query, its a bespoke request

This is By Far the best yet.

Many moving parts (files) to correctly insert. Managed without a hitch, by just looking inside CSM's main folder.
