good thread. I am almost certain it was unanimous, if I remember correctly a letter had to be sent to Brown from the MPC stating why they haven't got inflation in check. So I am sure they didn't discuss the cricket world cup at the last meeting but actually were all, including Blanch, very worried and possibly embarrased that they had to explain themselves.

Not sure if I have it 100% correct but that's my impression.

Either way 7:2 or 9:0 should at least see some shake out from the very tight ranges we have been in lately.

Yes I did read him this am, he seems to have a good handle on the news.

The big players have apparently been (in COT world) short both EUR and GBP and long USD for some time. I just can't help wondering if then they want both GU and EU lower before they enjoy the ride up?

Looking at africanpips comment that does make sense. Again whatever happens should shake the market a little and get better trading opportunities. My paints dry already.

......also think market wants to know how many/if any voted for 0.5%...a couple of those would sure get us out of first gear!!

UK rates may need to move again if the "economy grew in line with projections". The minutes cite the need for more data as the reason the more aggressive 50bp hike was discounted. Those who had mulled over the bigger increase thought it better to wait for more data to see how the previous four hikes (to 5.5%) since August had affected the economy.
