But there is no "lag" with a Moving Average . A Moving Average is calculated on all the last data.

You have a Position "Lag" if you use a Centered Moving Average because you offset the results 1/2 period back

look at how Excel worked

Excel can not position a MA 128 result before Data 129 !

Hence Excel positions the 128 last MA Calculations results AFTER the last available bar (say today)

If you do it manually you will understand how, why and the limits of what you do .
Otherwise if you trust your computer you will master nothing.
Until I interested me in (Centered) Moving Averages because of Hurst I had no understanding of MA's.
I just looked at my screen and had never noticed that Excel positioned the X period MA it calculated X bars AFTER the last point used for the calculation
