RIP Glenn Wheatley
a couple of days ago aged 74


Where to begin with Glenn, who was bass guitarist with The Masters Apprentices when I saw them as my first live band playing at the Malvern Town Hall down in Melbourne.

These weren’t concerts as such, just gigs in public places, which were the forerunner to the Aussie Pub Band scene which quickly followed a few years later.

Known mostly only to Aussies back in the day, Glenn then managed and produced a few local acts down the line incl The Little River Band and Johnny Farnham.

He was married to our local Aussie actress Gaynor Martin .


Anyways, back to The Masters Apprentices

While not their most well known song locally, when they did Rio de Camero live everyone stopped dancing and watched Douggie Ford on lead, while in this clip they gave plenty of video time also to Glenn on bass in this old clip.

- trying to practice the steps of the girl same school girl dancing
- his brother records and lease his dancing video out and everyone makes fun of him
- in this tension he eats more and more and every school and neighbors, school mates makes fun of him including his father give a good stare to him.
- boy get annoyed and stops dance practicing !!!
- his grand father notices the whole scene and try to dance without care with a small group of kids
- this frees the boy shyness nd he dances freely ever after.
- the next morning while practicing some how the girl whom she likes following his footsteps from her roof top !!!
