According to the Poll Result; all of parameters are responsible for this statistic! Basically, I want to add another point here, “greed”! Because, I have seen many new traders want to make quick success in their trading!

i would like to add that this 5% who win are Brokers and Largest Forex Market Makers..No retail trader is winning on a long-term basis ....yes please read carefully once again...YOU CANNOT MAKE MONEY ON FOREX if you are retail trader ...they will suck all your cash...it is fixed play like in a fixed casino ..if you play red they will fix it on black and vice versa...dont listen to gurus and guys telling you to go with the flow..big market players have allghoritams plugged in and they calculate how to screw everybody else and activate stop-losses ..so they fix the play..usually in very short time frame when you are not prepared for the surprise...please stay away from this market..those algoritam high frequency fixed play have screwed all us professionals traders and made our careers irrelevant..nobody is hiring forex traders anymore ...only for trading with clients in a win-win situation ....just risk managers, auditors and sales personnel are looked for..thanks to this innovation our profession is ridiculed....you cannot contribute when only few big players are fixing the market and screwing everyone else.and regulators are in a sleep mode....fx brokers are also profiting from pips they charge on each trade...PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY AWAY...AND MORE IMPORTANTLY DONT WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME LEARNING, WAKING UP EARLY TO JOIN AISAN MARKETS, HOPING, CHEATING TO YOUR FAMILY STORIES OF GETTING RICH FAST..I'VE LOST 3 AND A HALF YEARS...OF THOSE 1 AND A HALF YEARS ONLY LEARNING AND DEMO TRADING...LEARNING FROM SELF PROCKLAIMED GURUS..all they can teach you is how to PROTECT YOUR CASH AND NOT TO loose money FAST ...but you cannot make money there..algoritams are pluged all the time and positions are measured and at a certain moment BOOM ..THEY PRODUCE CONTRARY MOOVES THAT SCREW UP EVERYONE ELSE....i'm not sure whether this is legit , but they are smert, they invested in technology and they are above you in every situation....so you're in a casino ...so pls use my advise and save your money..i am really sorry to say this but Forex have become a SCAM..

Sure everyone tries to make money.. that means, that in zero sum game as much needs to be lost as is won... (+spreads+/-swaps).
That does NOT mean that one could not make money... You just need to find out some niche, where market is not effective.
It sure is possible. Sure you also need good mm etc
Nothing in forex is random, if you are able to find out what those with big money are doing, why wouldn´t you be able to make money?

Money is not there to be made easily without knowing what to do...

We should try this one day...
Take 10000 traders, all of them deposit 100$...
5000 goes long on e/u 5000 goes short... all in of course.
after doubling or losing those trades
2500 goes long, 2500 shorts again.
etc etc etc

One of the biggest factors on why 99% not 95% of traders lose is because of small capital. If your account is only $1000, isn't it normal to use high leverage and be greedy if you want to make something on that small account? Unfortunately, this leads to blowing accounts sooner.

Another thing is treating forex as a main source of income. If you're trying to make a living in Forex, you'll feel so much pressure than when your trading just to increase your money. (I'm only referring to retail traders in here, fund managers are excluded since they are professionals.)

So the best way to avoid blowing accounts is to use 10:1 - 25:1 leverage and use the least stressful strategy which is swing trading.

Knowledge + Experience + Hard work = Success

One reason many traders fail is they do not understand market dynamics, instead they focus on indicators that give signals. Case in point why metatrader has done so well and many brokers off it based on it is a trap to lure in newbies thinking it is easy to make money with it much like a bug is attracted to a "zapper".

Most traders only take into consideration just using technicals or fundamentals when they are rule based, 2+2 = 4, however many times 2+2=3 or 2+2=5. It does not make sense however that is how sentiment works in the markets. Markets are not based on clear directions however indicators give that false sense of hope that they can.

Nice post. Actually we can’t calculate the real faction of this market with surely. So that’s why we the beginners have to depend on trading indicators that always works not practically. What you think without depending on indicators there is any option for the beginner?

Many traders lose because of the reasons already mentioned but in my opinion very much depends on the method and money management.

There is. You don't need any indicator if you learn how to read candles. I personally use only trend lines and channels in my Swing trading and Breakout strategy. No need for fancy indicators.

If someone had told me 18 years ago to focus on sentiment, it would have saved me a lot of heartache, however in order to grow as a trader one has to go through growing pains. My advice is to look at sentiment, once news breaks (WAIT tile the top of the hour) and if the candle is engulfing enter with a small position. If the trend starts to unfold than add to the position, however if things turn against you can exit with a small loss (quit trying to swing for the fences because it is guaranteed fact there will be losses in trading, it is how you handle them is important). For example look at usd/cad this week, started with a small position and added 15 times to the short position before exiting on Friday.

My advice is focus on sentiment and build your system around that. Market participants (they are the ones that drive prices and not indicators or fundamentals). Keep in mind fundamentals can be the catalysts to start something.

I always like to know why we even care about this. I mean, is it something that is going to make a difference for us? If there are 90% losers or 99% losers, if we are good enough then I believe it is irrelevant how much losers are because we can easily be winners with just hard work. So, that’s really what we are required to do and really not care about anything else.

I think this thread can serve a couple of purposes such as those that are struggling and see what others are going through, as well asr those that have gone through the hardship to get to that 5% of success and see just how far they have come.

Very well said mate! Do you have any indicators for Sentiment to supplement your Price Action analysis? Do you follow any specific/some trade advisers to help with sentimental analysis? Please share for the general good of struggling traders.

For starters before entering a trade see what similar based currencies are doing. Pull up a chart on every single currency that is similar based (gbp/usd, gbp/jpy, gbp/cad, etc). I look at the hrly TF mostly however if I dial down to a lower TF it is to see if HH and LH and vice versa are being made. Once news breaks I wait til the top of the hr or sooner depends if all the pairs are in sync. The key is to wait and see if larger players are in agreement. For example look at what happened to the GBP on Friday. One of the BOE policy makers (known for being Dovish) came out with rather "Hawkish" remarks which really caught even the larger players by surprised and the GBP screamed higher across the GBP board.

I see, 55% members believe in your last point (All of the above)! Because, there have so many parameters! But the main reason is, low trading knowledge! New or low skilled Forex traders are unable to identify good opportunity of market as well as risky entry points! So, they mixed up the trading opportunity with risky entry points! As a result, more than 95% new traders are loser! Really, good skilled traders are profitable.

Newcomers should focus on others inevitable part of trading besides acquiring good trading knowledge. Controlling emotions , avoid revenge trading , overtrading , money management ,RR and much more things they have to observe for avoiding unfortunate loss.

I do agree with your opinion, success is not any automatic process! Knowledge is the key point here! If you make analkysis on unsuccessful Forex traders then you’ll get almost all of losers are low skilled trader! They don’t know good entry points of market.
