No. All you have to do is look at the average pip movement per day.

I agree w/ RogueTrader, the GBP/USD is more volatile. There is more liquidity in the EUR/USD, perhaps that is what you may have heard.
In trading, there is no bullshit. You either make money or you don't.

I heard that the eur/usd can get stale b/c of its currency pairs, namely, the eur/chf and eur/jpy. When the usd/jpy is dollar strong the eur/jpy can be euro strong (b/c of yen selling) causing the eur/usd to plod trendless while the majors such as gbp/usd rallies.

Also, if Eur/Usd is more actively traded than the Gbd/usd, then why is it that the Eur/Usd plods around a narrower range more often than Gbp/usd?

Why are you so sensitive? You need to loosen up OK? Its not the end of the world. LOL. Sometimes traders can have the shortest fuses. LOL.

You should have something substantial before making comments to a beginner. You really crack me up * Rolls up in a ball laughing *

No, I really did mean SENTITIVE. LOL. Sensitive b/c asking a beginner question shouldnt be irritating. He came off as an emotional grouch. Some people in this forum are too touchy for my taste.

Trade the EURUSD short and the GBPUSD long and take their money instead of them taking yours.

Hello RumpledOne,

I'm intrigued by your thought above, and it brings to mind one or two follow up questions:

1- was this some sort of recco for a short to mid-term hedge position plan, where, at another point in time you might want to reverse the roles of which pair you are Long for vs. Short for?

or,

2- would this be some sort of hedging constant, where, although the GBPUSD and EURUSD run together closely as a correlated pair, you can take advantage of the GBPUSD's extra volatility to "outpace" the EURUSD's movements during this hedged position?

If #2 is anywhere close, then answer me this? If I made this play, shouldn't I be worried that if I'm relying on the GBP to outpace the EUR as it counteracts my EUR short, then wouldn't I be upside-down if these pairs are trending downward in general???

Seems more likely that you should be Long the EUR and Short the GBP when you overlay them currently?

Your answers, your thoughts?

Thanks,
Jim

True. But why do you consistantly attempt to come off as the oracle?
I appreciate that you have attained a large following at another site, but that was then and does not make you any better than the rest of the worms here posting with an ulterier motive.

Because the BOE rate was originally sent to the US via the Trans Atlantic Cable.

By looking a chart which shows volatility of major pairs I see that GBP/USD has more volatility. But have in mind that data can vary depending on the news.
On the chart is visible average data of trading pairs.

Then; GBPJPY is the king; it’s known as most volatile FX pair. Did you ever use GBPJPY?

I think that due to Brexit GBP/USD has been very volatile - perhaps more volatile than EUR/USD - for the past year.
