No, nothing on the downside.

BenQ,

That's my understanding also. Marci has clearly done a great job with this EA, so good that it seem that this is the only real issue we need to focus on - capturing some profit in the event of a reversal.

Curious Ben, did the hedge open to the downside?

I believe that the capturing of some PIPs is depend upon what you set the values for UseTS and TrailingStopLevel. The default is not to use Trailing Stop. I have just left these values as is, and I have seen very profitable trades turn sour when the market starts reversing. What would be great is if one does not turn on UseTS then at least activate a B/E if its beyond x-number of PIPs as an option so that you don't lose anything.

I wasn't using TS at all. I was very surprised that it was up approx 85 pips and then slowly turned around and stopped out for -58. I'm not sure if that's an error or a setting or what, but that's a good amount of pips to give up.

using the default settings, my demo account of $500 with 0.1 standard lots blew up. And yeah, the EA doesn't perform very well with transient spikes.

Today was not a good day for the EA since the market reversed several timesin the course of the day. I am not sure because of NFP and the latter news....

Mine did open a short on the first reversal at about 1.9680 before the big drop and opened 2 long positions on the ride up. I was closing positions on the EA before the weekend because I was off to a holiday party, so I cheated on the 2nd long and took it when it maxed out so I don't know what would have happpened had it stayed in on the long side. However as it stands, I profited (in my demo only, sigh...) close to 250 pips both going up and down. But for those of you that got stopped out on your long from the initial ride up, I took a look at the code, because it shouldn't have allowed that to happen, and I discovered a bug in the code that prevented it from putting a S/L at +15pips profit as it was supposed to once the profit exceeded 55 pips. I WILL fix that over the weekend and update Flyer! with that fix along with one in the LimitHours function.

Have a good weekend all!

What effects have been seen with trading during the Asian market times? I see on the software that these times can be removed from trading.

How has trading during this time period affected the overall return on trading?

Is it best to let the software run 24x7 or to eliminate certain hours from trading completely?

I just got mysqlf InterbankFX demo, and downloaded all data back from '99.
Result I've got - totally unpredictible. Backtesting with same parameters, comparing to FXDD demo, produced more trades, entry and exit points were up to 20 pip apart, and in the end I've got two mirrired curves for results (FXDD - up, IBFX - down)
That's so weird... I'm starting forward-testing it with IBFX, and see what'll happen...

If you used the download button in history center, the data is from metaquotes not the IBFX data.

Hope that helps.

Then it's even more weird.
Coz I used "download" button for both, IBFX, and FXDD.
So data should be the same? Or FXDD uses some other source?

Backtesting has shown some limited improvement by eliminating the Asian session, but I don't see much difference. Since the price moves recently have not been that large during Asia, it might stand to do better to take them out and only trade during Europe and NY, thereby eliminating the smaller and possibly more false signals. But at the same time I've seen a trend start around 3 or 4am GMT and just continue that way right into Europe. So if you eliminated Asia, you could miss potential starts. Best thing to do is just try to test it and see how you feel it fares for you.

Every broker probably will have slightly different figures for their data...

Is there a way to get my MT show the GMT time? Its always confusing. I do notice during live trading that the Asian market will move during a specific time and then go to sleep, but I think its a sleeper since never tell for sure where price is heading since it ranges too much in my opinion.

You can't get MT4 to show it by itself... maybe I can write something into Flyer! to show it in the screen.
