1/3/2019: Probably just a "reminder" for me to stop posting elsewhere on FF.

6/21/2019: This thread is now considered closed !

6/30/2019: My last day of posting on ForexFactory. With this update, I am ending my journey on Social Media. This has been my only online home since 2006. My first and last home to interact with online strangers some of whom I have become very close friends. I have appreciated all our interactions till date.... even our disagreements. I have self-disabled my login so won't be able to post anymore.

I wish you all the very best.

Adios

Getting there... in baby steps. I am trying this to be less interactive until I finalize the main aspects. Part of me wants to share the essentials of strategy development life cycle (the professional way used for mission-critical apps) but probably not many will understand or see value in the process and rigor required. I have settled on the style and the setup (i.e. the framework). Stress testing reveals the universality element that I look for in any strategy. Now comes the actual nitty gritty of whether to put a square in a circle or a circle in a square with SL/TP/BE metrics.

Did a reset to start my algo again from the beginning of session. Solid deliberation about manual intervention of Moving SL to BE is currently going on in my head.

Strange. My laptop suddenly kept on going into sleep mode so had to reboot. Reboot wipe out all my trade history, closed my one open trade but did not close my stop loss and TP attached order. I am disturbed and puzzled by this. Luckily, I am still in SIM :-
Did a restart again from session open+1 minute. My algo behaves differently when I have a position open and when I don't. It's by design but I could get in situations like today needing to go back to market play and then "restart" until the current candle and then turn off SIM mode. Need to rethink if this method is appropriate for live. I don't like to messing between demo and live in the same platform so probably need to run two parallel instances of Sierra on one machine. Possible but not ideal. Staying on track for now to avoid distraction with this observation today.

Interesting... not sure why my exit rule did not trigger at the blue arrow... it should have closed and added in the same direction and/or reversed and gone short.... investigate!

Opportunity was 3:1 risking 30T to gain 90+T(which I could not catch!)

{quote} Thought Process / Perspective: Per my research, within any opportunity cycle theorem, the Opportunity must come with the first or second quotient (zone/wave/section/whatever) in order for the theorem to remain valid.... giving us an early warning sign on the outcome. This also means, an "event" resulting in compelling momentum MUST also occur before the first half i.e. MEAN or Median or 50%fib or whatever. There is a fundamental law of nature that is applicable to such theorems and hence the challenge of quantifying signature/stencil (mandlebrot)...

1/18/2019 Session Log: Pullback-Follow-manual SL to BE and Exits

ES - not looking good for Trend followers today.
Not playing with ES. Staying focused on NQ.
Manual intervention - why? stop this shit! Rely on what is proven to work in my tests. Believe in this shit. STOP THINKING ! STOP REACTING! Time to address my nemesis... "move to BE" logic to let it play out.

Entry Options:
1) Breakout from High (HH and LL) - Divergence from Mean
2) Breakout at Pullback (Trend Direction Continuation)
3) At Mean - No Entries
4) No countertrend trades. NQ will crush you and continue to move
5) Max 1 position at a time. No Stacking. Stacking was my bread and butter in FX and the skill cannot be transferred to my kids. Keep it Simple. Need to contain my aggressiveness and greed. Take what market gives!
6) Start times (staying with NYSE Open for now). Asia will come next but not London (too late in the night for me)

Exit Options: (TBD)
1) Daily Goal Target and stop trading. Example: 1:3RR (Initial DD:Gain) is doable
2) Move SL to BE at Initial DD + xxxT and let it run
3) Targeted Targets - This never works for me. "Enter now and Exit now".
4) Time Stop of OCs

8:30am PT Update: OC#2 which began at 8am

Note to self:

  1. Explore the option of starting my autobot one minute into the OC. that should reduce the number of trades and the initial DD.... resulting in a faster ID:Reward ratio.
  2. Incorporate the "new" reactive MA I found last night to trail stops once the 3R is met.
  3. Continue research on how to enter at the beginning of the trend and exit at the end. There is a potential relationship to exploit.... especially in Sierra but might be data/exchange specific in regards to the volume of "change orders" this design will trigger. I don't want to get in trouble bringing down their servers... which seems to be my specialty lol

Edit: Another item related to "trailing" or "modify order" discovered that does not exist or allowed in MT4 or Spot FX trading platforms by design.

Pretty much a wash day

TBD:
OC1: 6:30-7:00am
OC2: 7-8am
OC3: 8-9am
OC4: 6:30-9am

It all depends on what my initial DD. If OC1 moves straight to 3R, I am done for the day

I desperately need this in Sierra:

1) Equity based Flatten and Disable Auto Trading
2) Time (or Vertical-line) based Flatten and Disable Auto Trading
3) Exit when trade is in Profit or when trade is in Loss
3) Exit and reverse when open trade is in Profit or when open trade is in Loss

Any volunteers ?

Testing each OC in market replay is too time consuming. I need to automate my testing process.

Probably this is evident now with my posts... Each Opportunity Cycle by itself is FRACTAL in nature. Incorporate inception via MTF analysis and you got a universal framework that will work on all timeframes across all markets and under all market conditions spanning across whatever trading style you want to use. Markets are Universal and Neutral!!!

1/19/2019 Update: Personal Research Project/Challenge: (inspired by twoblink) DNA of a compelling 45 degree Inertia in Price Movements - How to exit a position at/near a tip of wick? i.e. leave little to no profit on the table How to enter a position at/near a tip? How to enter a position at/near the "base" (consolidation/range breakout). How to enter a position that moves into profit asap. How to profit from an entire move from A to B in price series Optional:using no technical indicators or maybe...

I wear progressive lenses and am well over 50.

I am using a 15 inch HP Spectre 8th gen i7 as my main screen. Resolution is 3840 x 2160. I was thinking about the Lenovo X1 Carbon, but they had a delay on the order, so I went to Best Buy and left with the HP, because I was sick of eye ache and needed a good display.

I also have 2 10 inch Lenovo tab4 tablets that I place orders from, one from each account. Able to look at things at a glance. Display is set to large.

This config has greatly reduced my eye strain. Cost was not ridiculous either.

Thanks man. Can I have the link to the model you bought and how much you paid for it? I like the resolution but have a 32inch samsung curved monitor which I am liking so far (from costco).

I am considering buying this Dell from Coscto as I never pay more than a $1K for technology which will be outdated in a year or two. I have already returned 3 laptops since august (two were HPs and both had the same issue with the noisy fan and cpu running hot). I have tried Asus, Acer, Toshiba and Dell and Dell took a ton of abuse from my son when he was in elementary/middle school so good construction to take a beating from me lol

Anyways, I only buy from Costco as you just cannot beat their 2yr extended warranty and return policy.

That's crazy! I have owned Alienware(Dell), Sony, Lenovo and HP. Four kids and two wives later, only the HP models lived. This include a particularly clumsy wife who had no concept of tech killing my Lenovo by knocking it off the couch and it falling just right. She killed a Sony Vaio the exact same way. My Lenovo's always had connector issues. I never got into Asus or Acer because my branding had been set by the time they started building decent machines.

Thanks for the tip about Costco. I will add that to my list.

That's the link, but I am sure you can beat the price. I paid 1700 for mine as it was the latest greatest at the time. The only thing that deteriorates faster than cars and boats are computers.

yeah man. $1700 is too much for any brand and usually HPs are the cheapest at Costco. Personally, I have not set a foot in Best Buy for over a decade now. They charge restocking fee for returns and that is principle is just wrong so bestbuy became WorstBuy by me ever since. Actually, my cap for regular laptop is max $600. My last one was $699 in late 2016 which I still use but want to go with SSD and graphics mainly to speed up my testing with Sierra. I can always return it in 90 days lol

I will try HP next time when I replace Dell desktop. I am a Dell hater (and Windows hater). I really hate Dell since I experienced various hardware issues in my desktop and laptop. Personally I love Apple the most although I find more issues these days. Michael Dell once told to Steve Jobs that "he'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders". Seeing what happened to Apple and Dell, it's just hilarious.
