Just wondering on everyone's take on what the news will do to the price of the yen this afternoon. Seems like a lot of news is going to hit. Everyone's take?

Well I wont be trading the JPY news because in the past it just has not been a big mover. However if you plan to trade in keep in mind with so many reports coming out, it makes it harder to predict which direction the currency may go.

Love it Merlin. USD/JPY isn't known as the 'trader's graveyard' for no reason.

Folks,

Does anyone know which among all those million JPY news items releasing at 7.30 ET is the most important ( will have the largest impact?).

Thanks

i always say it is the Tokyo Core CPI, but some disagree with me. they say National Core CPI is more important, but i cant see how that can be. Sure, Tokyo is a smaller population, but its release a full month ahead of national CPI!
Relax and be happy.

FF says:<TABLE class=tborder cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=3 width="100%" align=center border=0><THEAD><TR><TD class=alt1 align=middle></TD><TD class=alt1>Overall Household Spending y/y</TD><TD class=alt1 align=middle>http://www.forexfactory.com/forexfor...isc/mi_med.gif</TD><TD class=alt1 align=middle>4.1</TD></TR></THEAD><TBODY></TBODY></TABLE>

but another news source says Household is down -4.3%.

I'm sure the incorrect source will be corrected soon...

On days like this, there really isn't a "most important" release. You have to take them all into account to glean the directional bias...

This is good news for the JPY YEN but yet the Eur/Jpy is going Up.. I thought with news like this it would go down.

Any takes why this is happening?

its the BOJ, they are selling yen. im far from a conspiracy theorist, this is just a known fact that they directly defend their currency, and its plain to see. if you can figure out when and why the BOJ is doing things, you can make some good money. for instance, today before the report, if you went short yen that would be a good trade. BECAUSE you know that if the report comes out yen bullish, the BOJ will be there to sell yen. and if comes out bearish, well, thats even better cause everybody will be selling. the probabilities on a trade like that are pretty good.
Relax and be happy.
