That because the Strategy tester has absoultely nothing to do with your broker. You can create your own fake broker to run Backtests with Reko Bars in Offline Mode. Also the history data you download does not belong to IBFX it's downloaded from Metaquotes Server.

Thx , I do know that. I m awaiting an answer from Abigail/ibfx.
Doesn't this really mislead newbies, to be able to test a strategy that doesn't work on real account?

IMO a strategy tester has to reflect what's really possible to trade on the individual brokers platform. Everything else means a trap

That's what the demo account is for.

Anyway, I thought IBFX allowed hedging in MT4.

That's not their fault. They have no control over what Metaquote programms in their MT4. Blame them.
They don't own MT4 they just bought a license.

Reading this and other recent threads I get a sense we are about to go thru another spat of 'the brokers fault - i'm clueless' threads here on FF.
In trading, there is no bullshit. You either make money or you don't.

Interbank FX's performance page now shows an average order execution duration of 1.037ms for the period 2009-11-22 to 2009-11-27.

I still think this is quite unrealistic, and I'm leaning towards believing that Interbank FX is displaying false information.

I think most people don't realize how unrealistic 1.037ms is, because they don't time their executions. It's not really possible to know just by watching. You need to use code like this:

   double orderExecutionDurationInMs = GetTickCount() - orderStartPointInTime;
From my experience trading both demo and live at many different brokers, order execution duration in the range 100ms to 2000ms is very realistic.

My concern is about newbies.... do u still remember when u started trading? So many traps around and this is one of them for the beginners..

Since everything can be manipulated with plug ins on mt4 from the broker side, why shouldn't it be possible to plug in the same restrictions and trading conditions on the tester as on the real chart???

It's not time to trash it yet. Someone just needs to confirm the execution durations using the code that I posted here: http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost...7&postcount=90

i.e. if you trade live at Interbank FX simply record the execution durations by using the code in your Expert Advisors. Print the value to the Experts log. Then report back here with your findings.

Well yeh, we've already talked about that. It all depends on how you define execution time. If you define it as time for a placed order to become an active market order, well that's one thing (and probably still more than 1ms, but who knows).

On the other time if you're doing what that script is doing then you're measuring round trip ping times as well, which is highly dependent on your internet connection and says nothing about ibfx.

You can then deduct the round trip ping duration from the value that you got from the Expert Advisor log to get Interbank FX's actual execution duration of your submitted order.

So can someone who trades at Interbank FX please measure your execution (and ping) durations? It's not difficult at all.
