It depends on what you are asking. After the order reaches them then they execute it in 972 microseconds, but remember there's a lot of equipment and wire between you and the broker. How many hops does the order have to go through to reach it's destination, in some cases that could take more than a second or more, depending in internet traffic. I'm sure some of the brokers got better as the internet got better. The US doesn't have the best internet service in the world - far from it - it's run by the phone companies who are always complaining about...

Thats right if you have to send a market order the excecution speeds depends more on your internet connection than on your broker. If you have a Buy Limit Order already at your broker it should be filled in a few miliseconds no matter how lame your internet is.

I'm still wondering whether they mean 972 milliseconds.

With FXDD, the round trip ping duration from my terminal to the live FXDD servers is 1 millisecond. i.e. you could say that my terminal is next door to their server:

Yet the execution of my orders takes around 1 or 2 seconds. So most of the time is spent in the server. I programmed my Expert Advisor to record execution durations and slippage. I posted an excerpt of my FXDD log here: http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost...8&postcount=13

Also, there is an advertisement on Forex Peace Army for NordFX, with the text: "Scalpers paradise: No requotes, Execution less than 1 second", with the number 1 emphasized in red. So a 1 second execution time is considered to be good.

Knowing these, Interbank FX claiming to have execution time of under 1 millisecond sounds either amazing or ridiculous. Which one is it?

Unless of course they are using the Boston Technology Virtual Dealer plug-in, in which case they can set the delay to whatever (and whenever) they want.

I spoke to your support guys today and understand that you'll be in the UK in 3-4 months.

I assume I'll be able to transfer my live US account straight into the new UK setup and will there be any costs incurred - same as if I was making a withdrawal.
Here are the IBFX spreads from FXIntel.com (LIVE spread analyzer) - Not the best, Not the worst. The problem with IBFX isnt the spreads (if you're willing to overpay a bit) - Its the FREEZES, REQUOTES, SLIPPAGE and SPREAD WIDENING - Also their indicators are SMOOTHED to Death!! - I can also guaranteed you that your EA will perform worse on their platform because of the smoothed data. The smoothing kills indicator sensitivity. - If you're a manual traders this wont effect you as much but most EA's rely on indicators to get market information. Indi readings on IBFX lag badly thank to the smoothing. If you compare a EMA cross on IBFX vs (Collective FX or ATC Brokers) - The MA will cross waaaay sooner on CFX/ATC because the data is raw. The IBFX smoothing will make your EA enter trades far after the move has started and exit after the currency has deeply retreated. - Dont let the SMOOTHED taste fool ya.

Also- wanted to define our view of execution time to clarify any confusion: execution time is measured in milliseconds and is measured from the time that a customers trade hits our server until the customers trade is executed. Hope this helps.

Thank you Abigail for your response and for the data. However, that spreadsheet is only of spreads and not of order execution duration. So are you able to provide order execution duration data as well?

LOL. I doubt anyone would expect <1ms execution time. The internet doesn't move that fast.

If you already placed your order in their system (Limit or Stop Order) I think 1ms could be realistic because 1 second would be pretty
darn slow which I never experienced with IBFX. Imagin price triggers your stop and it takes 1 second to fill your stop order.

Eh, I think it's still asking a bit too much. Most OSes don't cycle thru their processes that fast, and if they had to place a trade out to balance your new trade, or even make the decision about whether to do that or not, the system would still take over 1ms to handle it.

Average human response time is like 200ms (1/5th of a second). Good response time is down to 100ms. You'll never notice anything smaller than that.

This is where execution time gets trickier. Obviously a stop order will be executed quicker since it's in the system already. A market order has network latency to overcome, slowing it down even more.

When I figure up execution time I'm looking for the round trip time it takes to hit the button, for it to be accepted by the system and for a reply to be generated. That generally means either a market order, or the time it takes for my stop order to be accepted by the system.

Actual execution of the order from the time the system accepts it to the time it's recorded is much smaller, but not very relevant. Times when price is moving fast enough to make it count, the spread will be wide enough to compensate.

I'm trying to find a broker that has the layout on their platform like IBFX, it's just easy for me to use and understand what I'm doing BUT I don't want to run into problems with the averages not being accurate and such.

It's bullshit I've run multiple EAs on IBFX without any problem or performance disadvantages. You will find the same layout with every MT4 Broker. If you wanted to chose IBFX frankly I can't come up with a reason why you shouldn't. Their small position sizes are good to start trading live money without risking to much.

Dont believe me. Open a MT4 Demo with IBFX, ATC Brokers and Collective FX. Put a Simple Moving Average on them - SMA5, SMA15 and watch them cross. Almost all indicators are basically variation of MA's. Watch the responsiveness of the SMA's. Believe what you see.

Wanted to clarify this inquiry for you also...and welcome back to the world of Forex!

Interbank FX averages are not "smoothed" over-- we actually don't alter the MT4 platform at all. We take pricing from our multiple bank partners, mark them up slightly and publish them. Hope this helps- and I wish you luck with your trading!

I have used IBFX for over 5 years.....at first they were great for news trading..then that stopped....then sometimes I saw requotes quite a bit....but that hasnt been a problem for me for over a year.

I have been really happy with them overall.

But, unfortunately I am now using different brokers because interbankfx does not offer leverage at 400:1.

So, to me, they were the best....but now, because they have been forced to change their leverage requirements they do not work for me anymore....

I have used EAs and many different indicators...have made and lost hundreds of thousands of dollars...and they have generally been very good for me.

Those are my 2 cents.

IBFX Marketing FAKE!!!


Hi, I used to trade with them, the spreads get worst when you enter the market and also when you try to get out... so be carefull, this new marketing they are making of up to 1 pip, I´ve seen up to 5...
