Hi All
Anyone had success setting email option with a yahoo account. I've tried old and new yahoo smtp server info with no success.
eg plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465
Journal in MT4 states login failed, but user name and password are correct

Yahoo state SSL and Authentication should be used but there is no fields for this in MT4 or should it be added to the example above, if so how.

thanks in advance

I have not had any success getting mt4 to send emails to yahoo by using yahoo servers. I would recommend you get a free account at bluebottle.com and then use their servers to send it to your yahoo account.

In order to use the Yahoo pop/smtp you have to subscribe to it. It is $20 a year and not worth it. The service has been horrible. I am currently setting up gmail since it is free.

I found this post on another site. I've had no luck with Yahoo or Gmail. If anyone has managed it please put us out of our missery

"Gmail requires the use of TLS/SSL (encryption) and I don't think MT4 uses this method of sending email. I believe you will need a POP3 email account that doesn't require TLS/SSL to send mail. Most POP3 email accounts (from ISPs or Web hosting service) can do both and this usually isn't a problem.

If anyone has more information that would be great, because it is not written anywhere in the documentation."

Thanks for this info. I've setup a bluebottle account but can't get this to work either.

In Option > Email I have;

email = checked
smtp server = mail.bluebottle.com (have also tried mail.bluebottle.com:25 [26, 587])
smtp login = [email protected] (also tried smtp.bluebottle.com)
smtp password = entered
from = [email protected]
to = [email protected] (have tried other email addresses here)

Also, with bluebottle is it possible to then forward the message onto another account? ie Yahoo.... Maybe in one of the upgraded versions of bluebottle?

Many thanks,

Dave

I have tried various times to set up e-mail/SMS with MT-4 and so far I am 100% unsuccessful.

Will the above work for sending alerts directly to my phone using SMS?

Thanks

Wayne

Have you tried using your phones email address? Usually it is something like [email protected], always worth a call to customer support to find out. I use at&t but have a smart phone so all email is forwarded automatically from outlook.

This post shows what I use. Bluebottle has worked for a couple of years set up like the screen shot.

I have tried to help people from a few countries that never got Bluebottle to work. I live in the US. A few people who use Outlook also have problems. It may depend on settings in Outlook or firewall settings. It works fine with OE.

To send an email from MT4 to an ATT phone use the 10-digit wireless phone number as follows:

[email protected]
If you have Cingular number which is now ATT the original address still works (at least for now) in addition to the above address:

Send an email from your mail program to your cell phone first before trying it from MT4 to help isolate where the problem is.
