what is the average candle size in EUR/USD?

How can I calculate:
- the average candle size in EUR/USD (from London Open til London Close)
- how often did a candle in EUR/USD have 1 (2, 3....... or 20) pips
- for this week, month and year


How can I calculate this? How can I find an indicator that calculates this? What type of indicator should I look for?

i believe someone has posted you some info....

I have calculated manually 100s and 100s (infact 1000s) of candle sizes both average but mainly for frequency Distribution.

By doing so i gained info just like reading a book and i got the feel of the market over years and years.

Nowadays my stats etc are gathered automatically but i still believe their is nothing better than collating manually....

Thank you for sharing your experience! In your experience did you find consistent patterns in these frequency distributions to consider significant value? If yes or if no, to what extent?

First of all.... I look at charts on different time frames, and i look for patterns ,recurring things etc and then look further if i see something....brb i am going to post a random chart.

I happened to have a chart of Cable daily..... ( i used to trade E/J Daily Break)

look at all the wicks? these are all 10/20+ and considered by most people to be False Breakout.
THEY ARE MONEY and can be traded, ifvyou don't have a wick it is then a full blown proper candle....

All the wicks are different ranges, SO take stats using FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION.
i traded E/J and the FD for the wicks were 20 for a big majority. and that is what i did.
we may see levels/pivots all showing clues and these can be exploited.

thank you for your interesting post! In the chart that you posted I see (with naked eye) that price does not fluctuate much along the median line. How do you trade?

- in hindsight I see that the price is in a ranged market, but how do you confirm that? Once you confirm a ranged market, price starts to trend usually. What do you think? In the beginning you only see 2 candles with wicks. So I presume this is not a signal for consolidation. You probably wait for at least 6-8 candles with wicks, and what happened in the chart is it trended downwards after 8 candles (with wicks). Ranged became slow trend. How do you see this?
- Most wicks are both above as well as below the candle, so do you trade both ways at the same time and close in profit? Do you close in loss (SL) with 1:2 ratio? Or you don't use SL, but only DD SL?
- do you look at the previous candle (wick)? If yes, what does a long bullish wick tell you? (other than fake breakout)

hello,,,,, you are missing the point.
I trade off one candle for a few percent.
forget trends , i was speaking about Daily time frame but same with the 4 hour candle.

Consolidation break out is a very good method.

Yes, these are the popular time frames & useful tool. I see, D1 is the most vital one on the determining the market trend.
If you ask about candle size in EUR/USD it depend on timeframe...
