IG Markets experiences/reviews?

I would not recommend IG at all! They have this variable spread that they themsleves cannot explain when you call them out on; have been investigating this for months with them....they just tire you out, never got an explanation, very low leverage, I would not open an account with them ever again.

Hi, I am from the UK and currently use IG for spreadbetting. What do you use? I would like a site with fixed spread as there has been a few times where I lost due to the variable spread

If you wish you could try tickmill, they offer tight spreads.

Not yet. I'm testing demo MT4. I'm looking for speadbetting broker,because of chance to use tax free trading.I have already accounts with forex brokers and if would't be tax advantage,I wouldn't think about IG.
That's the reason I'm looking for info from people who trade IG on MT4 platform.I don't want and need to learn they platform.
There is also Activtrades,I'm checking.

I am using IG for spreadbetting but I am currently using there web based platform, I am looking to get on to the MT4 platform soon. IG platform is simple to use and is basic. not a lot of indicators to choose from though if you use them

Well I use web platform from XTB and I have also another brokers, but somehow,after "masterring 1 web platform I foud quite hard to switch to another,because there is always something different. So I use xtb for main charting and MT4 for placing trades.I use some charting and indicators on MT4 you can't get on web platform either.So MT4 makes easier form me to try or switch to different broker.
btw how you satisfied with IG?

So far so good for me, no issues. It is like you said, once you get used to one system, its just feels different to use another, as I have a few demo accounts elsewhere but can't get round to using it.

I am trying to get IG login details so I can use MT4 as they support this too. Can you spread bet on MT4?

Only issue I have with IG is it seems to have the least amount of indicators compared to other sites I have seen.

I was with IG for 4 years and still have some funds there.

Yes you can spread bet with MT4 on IG, I use a few different EAs and indicators which are coded for MT4 so that was a big thing for me!

Stay away. I have a pending case against them with ASIC. I Bought FX call options over a couple of weeks, no other transactions. Paid premiums up front as you do when buying options . They closed out all my positions after the fx rate changed the premiums of the these transactions, weeks and days after the purchases. Yes my up front premiums, were adjusted to a different/worse exchange rate after i had purchased them. This put my account into margin call and they closed out all the positions crossing a 14 point spread!

Spent more than 1.5 hours on hold, during euro open, to their "24 hour dealing desk", never had a call answered.

No one response to email or calls over 2 days. Will update with the outcome of the ASIC investigation when complete and provide details to this site to verify.
wow customer service looks incredible.
I'm just 70 minutes in call and nobody answered call.
IG just beat every company I ever called.
So let's summarize,
LIVE help is missing,email unanswered and 40 minutes no answer on call ,
Way to go IG.

Trading the markets is difficult enough…

Trading the markets is difficult enough without your broker lagging price and making it untradable at even 10p per point on their MT4 platform. Any other profession offering such an unreliable platform or tool to conduct your business simply would not survive. Server excuses etc just don't cut it..... They know exactly what they're doing.
Update.... Just had a 30pt lag on uero/dollar... behind fxcm demo...!
Update 2.... Still lagging hr later... Shocking.
Why not just close down your platforms IG if you have server problems....

Just try sitting at your platform for 10 yrs to learn only some of how this market works then to be told when the volatility you want appears the provider can't handle it... There should be streamless entries as and when people want, not when you see fit to provide them...How on earth people enter and trust the platform with anything other than pennies is beyond me.
16 march update... Holding price back now by lagging the chart.. Entry ok but exit totally impossible when wanted. I have a script that closes all open positions and even that is to no avail.... Will be changing to another broker and publishing my findings which are all documented and captured.
17 march update,,,,, Just entered on a 1 min scalp knew I'd got it wrong and tried to exit.. They lagged the chart and held price by 5 pts or more behind FXCM demo then suddenly crashed it through my at the death stop I try to always place. Again,documented and captured.
It's a bucket shop.
18 march update.. Been going well up until now at 17.30 GMT. Showing a 15 point lag behind fxcm demo as market turned back up locking the platform on MT4. This really is the stuff of a low life bucket shop not the supposedly leading CFD and spread bet provider they claim to be.. Appalling.
Again, documented and captured....
19 march update... Lagged as major accumulation taking place again, ie as market was turning... checked the online platform yesterday and all was up to speed it seems that it's only their MT4 data provider that's playing up... Please sort them IG or your reviews will get worse.
Update again.... They'll say its volatility but just got lagged again... Does anyone know a reputable, on the ball good to honest broker....??? Or am I having a laugh... The FCA should really investigate this whole industry, it's not a limit on leverage we need just plain and simple level, regulated playing field.

This broker I think they are a dealing desk. because, in live chat, they say the customer doesn't have an interbank market

Wow I was planning on switching to these because they were regulated. Il be having second thoughts now
I have been with IG for about a year now. I made a few withdrawals and they were successful, However, from May, all my attempts to withdraw have been problematic. Nothing has changed from my side - same banking details as previously. But all of sudden, IG now says it needs 11 characters for your bank swift code - even-though my bank has 8 character swift code only and my previous withdrawal was successful with that code.
then IG said it's ok now, try again - failed miserably again - with a generic message - we're unable to return your fund!
Then they said their IG bank - Lloyd bank rejected my withdrawal as it has invalid country code. I checked and my IG profile country is matching with my domicile (ie Hong Kong)

Still waiting for their reply but my experience with this broker is not positive.
