Hi there,

I want to have two MT4s open from the same broker but I also want to log in with the same live account on these two MT4s.

First, is that possible?

Second, would that cause any issues?

Thank you for your help!

So you are logged in with the same live account on two different devices and two different MT4s and it works just fine?

If in C:\Program Files (x86) you make new folder for any new mt4 instance from same broker you can have in same pc as many mt4 instances with different acc or same acc in same broker as you want opened in same time,of course depend on how much your machine support .then on your desktop just rename every new shortcut as per your wish to be able to identify them well.

Thank you Husky for the kind explanation. Can you also confirm that being logged in with the same live account on at least 2 or more MT4s is not harmful and will not cause any issues? This is my main concern. Other users say it is okay, but the more people confirm, the better.

You can have multiple MT4 running on the same computer connecting to the same broker and same account and this will not create any issues.

Cheers!

i can login in different mt4 instances in same pc in same broker same acc.and i can say no issues at all.i dont see why can be any issues as long each new folder you make in C:\Program Files (x86) will have separate data.
also you dont need always the setup file from any specific broker.mt4 is ... mt4.i can login in hotforex with the one took it and installed from admiral for example, just find your broker and server in the list.you can use main metaquotes mt4 if you have one since old times.now if you want download mt4 from them they just redirect you to mt5 cos there is no more updates and support for mt4.icon with specific broker name on it is just an icon,mt4 is same for all.

No need to clutter up the ProgramFiles and appdata/roaming folders...

Instead of reinstalling the platform multiple times just copy the Metatrader (ProgramFiles) folder and paste it anywhere you want (e.g. dropbox folder) and as many times as you want (one for each running terminal). Go into your new folder(s) and create a shortcut to terminal.exe. Now open the properties to the shortcut and add " /portable" to the end of the target. Now your terminal instances will launch in portable mode and all of your MQL files will now be stored in your new folder instead of appdata/roaming. Just remember to always launch your terminals via the shortcut.

I see no reason why u open two instances unless u r arbitraging which brokers hates

if u r going to give ur login details to some one else to trade this might cause issues on broker side if broker understand d situation. its not allowed to login from other countries to d account. eg... ur residence in Germany n someone from UK trading ur account. how does broker know? from d IP of course. do they check it 100% probably not but if this is d case I advise u to ask your broker before doing such thing that can cause account bloc

{quote} Anyway the best way is not install MT4 with installer. I have a clean installation folder. When I need a new MT4 instance I only copy it with a new name. As MT4 is not installed preview files is not enabled and windows folder works normal and it not try read ex4 metadata and icon every time

If you really think that is an issue, even turning to a forum is bad. Simply ask your broker and you are 100% safe.

But yes, it is no problem.

There are lots of reasons. You could run one instance per timeframe e.g.. You could also split pairs into multiple instances if you do not use any attach/detach tool. There are lots of reasons to run multiple instances that have nothing to do with arbitrage but rather with a more convenient way of trading.

Hi,

I think you can easily do it by copying the MT4 data folder and open a new instance in it. You can connect in the same account with other devices too.

Regards!

Depends on what you want to do. They can easily track two different logins (using two different PC for example with MT4 installed on each), different IPs will create even bigger issues with their security filters. Better to know what your broker thinks about that.
