I do not know
how big boys
think or trade.

I do make it a point
to study retail traders' traits
and trading behaviours.
(more so a year ago)

Based on that information,
I seek to develop trading methods
that trade against
retail traders' way of
thinking and trading.

The exact same words can be used by a professional forex trader, yet you would criticize him for saying that.

Link: Soccerway

Easy 5.00 - 6.50 odds

Risk-reward of

If I were to bet on West Bromwich to win, that would be 1:10 at least.

The vast majority would have lost that based on Man Utd''s form at home vs West Brom's away form.
The best odds were for the upset, so it was a worthwhile punt. No skill required in that on a single result.
Most West Brom supporters would have won this bet, I think.

Now Leicester City winning the Premier League 2 seasons ago was 5000-1 at the beginning of the season, a £200 bet would have made you a millionaire.
Gambling is all about would've, could've, should've.

Markets are there to fill orders, price will find liquidity in the market or it will not move. Supply exceeds demand then price will fall and vice versa.
Banks fill orders between parties, sellers & buyers and earn commision from both parties. They also speculate on the markets regarding future
news announcements, to make a bigger profit.
Banks can also get it wrong, see Barings Bank/Nick Leeson, UBS Bank/Kweku Adoboli, and so on.
There is a big distinction between retail traders and professional traders, do not lump them all together.
There are successful professional traders out there, learn to emulate them.

Precisely. Most people bought Man Utd to win.
That is why the match was fixed to make them lose.
In fact, all soccer matches are fixed
to ensure bookmakers make the most profits, consistently,
much like in the way market makers
make markets move in a way
that milk the most out of retail traders in trading.

I already mentioned typical gamblers are
extremely simple-minded,
compared to traders.

Sportbetting is VERY DIFFICULT.
But it is slightly easier than trading.
A lot of in depth analysis
went behind every bet that I make
It did take me many years of trial and error
to get to my current state.

For me trading is easier than Sports Betting, probably because I have studied this longer.

Knowledge (Backbone), Edge (USP), Risk management (Awareness & Financial acumen), Discipline to follow rules (Process), all required to be succesful. Gradual success is better than overnight success.

Why not!
But I think it's way too late for Forex or any other retail trading. The trend is down.
You must catch a new trend from the start in order to become in the Top 2 or 3 of that niche and hope make money out from it.
Any idea guys?
Don't give up on your dreams. Keep sleeping.

we do not need to know how/why market movers trade,
we need to know that they do.
We can have a clue that a pair will reach a pivot. Then what?
INDIES, the majority mean nothing and are worthless, JUST CONTRADICTING. will it break or retrace?????

trade well.

I have a good idea of how the big boys trade as I invest in news sources which they look at.

I also see trades they make every week and follow very reputable analyst online to gauge whats going on.

Dont get me wrong the big banks can be wrong as they can get bullied by hedge funds or just be wrong in general.

When I trade i think of the reason of why the big boys are buying this and how strong the driver is.

For example a simple tweet like this will allow you to know what the big boys are thinking but you have to do your own analysis as this is just the view of one bank and not all of them. If they match your fundamental analysis/technical analysis then trade it.

There’s an interesting recent article on finance feeds wrt how FX brokers hunt for the trading bait/chum to then churn over and throw away, they have zero interest in customer care, only in buying thousands of leads from the likes of binary options failures, then hoping that a small percent will gamble and lose a few hundred quid each. They spend a couple of grand fishing and convert it into twenty grand, that’s the typical model.

Brokers cheat, but the majority of the deception involved in this industry is self deception; gamblers lie to themselves, like alcoholics they live in perpetual denial. Look at this thread and the ESMA threads were the anger is palpable. Losers grouping up to defend the industry, and to demand their rights to throw their cash away, not realising that ESMA are trying to protect them from their wretched existence and illogical behaviour. ESMA cite that only one in ten bets are winners, with 90% of punters losing up to 30k, but those in denial don’t heed the warnings, they deceive themselves that they’re in the 0.3% who I discovered take what could be considered a modest living out of retail FX trading, but my figures were actually worse on closer inspection ...

Although we had ten out of three thousand who you’d consider successful, nearly all were swing and position traders, or using their FX facility as a personal hedge. All had accounts of circa 50k and above, none needed their ‘winnings’ to live on and none enjoyed consistent success over a three year period. Therefore using my 3,000 sample there were zero successful retail traders, ZERO.

This retail FX activity is dying, it’s enjoyed a slight spurt over recent years due to a low yield environment convincing mug punters that they can be glamorous winners, whilst people have enjoyed another relaxation of credit enabling them to borrow to play. As the global economy turns FX retail will shrink. Hopefully folk get the message that for the vast majority they’re as likely to become wealthy trading as they are gambling at the race track or on football matches.

{quote} I don't equate trading to roulette, somebody else was doing that. From what I know, they're not related. I don't quote the business failure rate to excuse the failure rate of traders, but to demonstrate that educating people as to failure rates will not stop them trying - and failing. In one way I'm actually with you - I wish that the majority of people who try trading could be discouraged from even trying. But failure rates and anecdotes of suicide and gambling addiction just ain't gonna do it. Perhaps an emphasis on how much hard work...
