This is quite the thread the flash crash got every body on the edge
Well i second Leeshindig, nobody is forcing you guys to follow Ghosts ideas but if you want a chance in this game then i can only endorse Ghost Walker and the whole thread he has put together to assist and motivate trades moving forward, i myself have been duped by supposed experts that in reality haven't got a clue and without GW i would of walked away but now im equipped and ready to go. Too much negativity if you ask me i wish all a happy 2019 and gonna get back to the thread that actually has any real credit.
GW one of the best traders i ever seen, Anyone who says otherwise does not know what he is talking about...

traders who can separate emotion from their trading decisions will always be successful

the ones who are emotional always make irrational decisions about buying or selling because they let greed and fear dictate the outcome

you can have a purely mechanical trading strategy that is basic and still be successful compared to those who use robots or randomly buy or sell

is the so called "gut feeling" qualify as an emotion?
if trading robots are the perfect manifestation of a work process, why are all need human supervision 24/7?
if bacis purely mechanical strategy is the easiest to program to an EA correctly, why so many EAs failure?

You would be surprised at how many times the human trader overrules the robot when it goes through a drawdown.

the fact is, that any large quant trading fund is monitoring their trading robots full time, and for a good reason.
it isnt end with a put it on a VPS and forget about while waiting to become a millionaire.

This is true, but they are watching many more than one robot. When this happens correlation becomes a factor. Any fund that you ever could do research on was brought down when the correlation on the instruments became abnormal.

In the real world, one needs to have a high degree of control in order to be successful. However in trading one needs to keep a check on his emotions which is always not easy. There have been many traders who had excellent trading skills but they were somehow not able to manage their emotions. These emotions are something which stops a trader to become successful.
Many people define successful traders is those who can profit big money over night, I'm really sick of this kind of conclusion. What do you guys think?

Sure man... Before anyone can argue about "success", "trader"... we might first define the two, separately... let alone together! so "successful trader" can be very abstract term... But I agree with you there... The rookier the trader... the more he "respects" the return.. even if crazy risk/exposure is behind it... The older, more experienced the trader... the more he/she values the consistency, stability...

I will give you another example.. but this is somewhat extreme.. maybe won't be understandable... REAL return at 0%.. would be NICE also Meaning, (de)inflation-adjusted REAL return... of 0%.. would mean that you at least preserve the value or great portion of it... because every formula compares it to something and something might not be included... but you get the idea...

Basically, for rookie trader, if you can not DOUBLE the account at least once a year... better... every 2-4months you might just well be ignored by many, specially newcomers... At the same time... many "successful traders", by rookies (or even more experiences traders) won't even look at returns because they would get stuck at DD/exposure etc...

But you also have to understand that many begin with POCKET change... so (consistent - if such thing exist in this markets, longterm 10% might be golden if you already have at least 100k... for trading.. that would give you some INCOME... for great part of the world... but even that is not much... So traders that start with 100USD or less... are forced to look for maximum return possible.. and to expose themselves to the teeth... in the aim of getting 100mio or it depends on their number...

But there are many definitions for success and ALL are potential right for an individual so there is no need to be angry or to argue with anyone... I personally thing that successful TRADER is the one that can make the living for himself with trading.. That's it

They are already millionaires in their own space and can't really be bothered forums. Most already will have their own inner circle.
