sunday night here in Oz, new Build lol

i use few indi's at all, a grid builder and 3 x pivs, and all still the look the same to me

must be for the programmer's
do you use some non standards MB (not asking what lol ?), and has it made your platform unsstable

It's ballsed up my EA's..... there is a get around but I have to modify every time I compile...bloody infuriating.

Also changing time frames on a chart is now hit or miss,,,compiling now causing MT4 to hang.

Build 1210 of MT4 is released

I'm gonna need to revert back to the previous MT4 version. Anybody have a new technique on thwarting the auto-update feature? Also, I just installed a new version of MT4 from an old broker-supplied install file and when I installed it, it was the latest version!? I didn't even connect the copy of MT4 to the server. This is working like a virus!

Anyone knows what and how I can get the alert notification delivered to my mobile in seconds like it use to be. I had even reinstall to my mobile though I got a new ID, the problem is the same. Sometimes in seconds and other times when ever in batches.

A couple tips though.. When clicking through the prescribed file tree some will notice that AppData is not visible. You must check "hidden items" under "view" to see it. If just using the search function you might only see C: > WebInstall; in that case enable "all subfolders" under "file".

Emmzett, when blocking write access is it necessary to block "Everyone", "System", "your user name", administrators, or just "your user name's" write access?

Also, when reverting back to a previous MT4 version, is replacing the terminal file all that is necessary?

(1) Your user is enough.
(2) In general, yes. However, I recommend to always replace both "terminal.exe" and "metaeditor.exe".

ps: I also recommend to use an application firewall and block all outgoing network traffic to the MetaQuotes servers. Only allow traffic to your broker's servers. A very good tool is e.g. "Windows Firewall Control" from here.
I went back to 1170 and everything is normal again. Nice try MetaQuotes!

Something I just noticed...

Whenever I install a new copy of MT4 (I run like 9 now on my machine) all the permissions are "overwritten" in WebInstall. So after every install one must go in there and lock it down again? I suspect all the parent directories are being overwritten thus negating the permissions on the subs?

My MT4 copies are still updating with the WebInstall folder write protected...

All of a sudden in the middle of me using an MT4 copy, the terminal closed and then reopened with the new file. I promptly went to the WebInstall folder and it had been recreated...

Now this doesn't happen every time I open a terminal. It appears random at this point. But of course it can't be random. Something must be accessing the MetaQuotes server?

Also, if someone is manually logging into an account, do not scan for servers or that will update your copy.

This is acting like a virus...

It is working. In fact I use a different approach than setting security permissions to write-protect the directory.
What about a more creative way? Think out of the box.
