I'm talking as trader/coder. Powerful platform allows better tools. Better tools can do traders have better performance. But this thread was opened for blame metaquotes because they stopped MT4 development when we are talking more 12 years platform.

Everytime happens same with windows. When W7 arrived everybody didnt want it because "XP is the best". Same people later dont want update to W10 because "W7 is the best". But why they pass to W7 if they said XP was the best?. Fortunately world ignore this kind of people because if we have follow them we are still in the stone age

Yes, but when I changed from XP, to W7 and now W10, all my applications (Excel, Word, ... etc) even native applications created in Xp, continue working in W10, without problems. WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING !!! But if I decided to change from MT4 to MT5, almost nothing would work. Is this normal of a serious and professional platform? DO NOT !!!

That is not true. That is reason windows have compatibility mode. And even with that very old apps not works. As you told the problem for many people is lost their MT4 tools but people were able to use tools many years ( some more a decade ) then I dont see the detriment

Yes, it is true an Excel sheet created in XP, with a very old version of MIcrosoft Excel (I do not remember which version), I open it today without problems in W10 and Excel 2017.

Its microsoft stuff. Third party apps are other history. Anyway at this moment you still can use MT4. When MT4 stops you can go other more "profesional" platform. You will discover all platforms arrives one moment they need break backward compatibility for evolve...

Anyway i tried long time ago load jibala excel in a newer version and it was impossible. Evidently complex documents are more complicate to preserve compatibility. Not all is black or white

Just being pedantic with the English language, but update does not mean upgrade!
The updates are Beta releases and if you have your terminal connected to a metaquotes demo it will update automatically. Word on the street is MQ is switching over to the .net framework, and things are going wacky with MT5 so I'd expect bugs with the new MT4 Betas as well.
