you obviously cannot say if its highest or lowest candle , as other people also mentioned. you need to set a time limit , asian session for example. and we can call it asian session breakout/reversal strategy.

Hello,

Just took a trade now on gbp/jpy (+15 pips) could of got +20 in total but was distracted for a minute..moved my stop loss every +5 in profit (example: up 10 pips, moved SL to 5, up 15, moved to 10..:

Question: As seen, my R:R ratio is not 1 but less, is there any point where if you're in the zone for example on the 5 minute and want to take a short; set-up buy stop and watch price go through it but slowly reverse back up..should I cut the loss early and re-enter when it goes past the zone again?

Personal choice. FWIW, that's what I do.

Who is taking the 10 trade challenge the week of December 20, 2020?

During the challenge, you are only to trade the same pair.

Beginners do not get to trade multiple pairs until they have mastered trading one single pair.

GREEN PIPS TO ALL.
Cheers!

Hi

I am new to this thread. I voted "Not simple". Hmmm - hard to explain why. It just took me hours to be absolutely sure about the setup. Still there are some thing like what does D[0] and D[1] mean. But that is not important. It will all come to me. I do get the basics and will be able to trade it. Which I will do this monday!

The system is very much interesting. I am normally a robot trader (making the robots I need) and I have little succes in manual trading. But I think that this strategy will make a turning point in that regard, because the rules are so clear and firm. I look forward to many hours of cosy trading and comparing to you guys on the thread. Thank you for sharing.

By the way, it was the post 2,714 that finally cleared up all my questions. That post is very good.

Hi All, I wanted to try to help explain the entry process in a "visual" fashion that may (or may not) be of assistance to some traders. This is a series of charts looking at each step in the process of identifying possible setups, identifying actual valid setups, and activating the trade. There are notations on each chart....starting with the H1....and ending at the M15. I am specifically looking at a SELL trade in this example. The EXACT REVERSE will be true for a BUY trade. I trust this will be of assistance. Regards Michael {image} In the above...

I have some exit ideas. I don't know if they are welcome in this thread. Just tell me and I will keep them to myself. Not interested in polutioning this fantastic thread.

The problem with setting stop loss is allways that it might be hit by a spike and right after then the trend will continue. So what I would like to investigate is this:

  1. At +5 pips I will set SL at +1 pips as stated in the rules.
  2. At +10 pips I will exit half the position. Keeping the SL at + 1 pips (Break even). I just earned money

This is according to the rules and assures that I get some gain or at least doesn't lose in most setups.
From that point I will investigate two technics.

  1. I will program an EA - OOOUUUPPSSS! Sorry, but listen to me. It will be an EA that exit the trade - not investing! A normal SL can as mentioned be hit by a spike. If you use a programmed exit then you can set it to exit at the close of the bar and thereby it will not exit at the spikes. In the post 2,714, which exited at bar K with 22 pips gain, this kind of programmed exit would have continued the trade and the gain would probably have been trippled. BUT ---- what if we experience a Black Swan - like 200 pips the wrong direction at one bar!!! Well, it is possible to program a fast exit at a selcted point and at the same time having the exit of the close of the bar. That's a little advanced and I will explain if the interest is there.
  2. I will try the Hull MA. Yeeees I know. It is a MA and it is lagging. BUT - not lagging that much. The mathematic formula behind the Hull MA makes it a very fast reacting indicator. I think that it would have given more pips in the example at post 2,714. By the way, this exit can also be programmed.

By programming the exits, there is one more nice advantage. You can use your energi and time on finding and setting up trades. The exit is secured automatically. I will of cause upload the MQ4 files as required in this thread. I do very much agree, that by only uploading EX4 files is -- well i think close to a scam.

In this world nothing is perfect. Thank god for that! And those two technics do have disadvantages. So maybe they are not of any use after all. But I will try them out.

Now - if this kind of investigation does not fit into this thread, just let me know, and I will keep it to myself. The judge of this is of cause TooSlow the master of the thread.

But I will continue to be a manual trading member of this thread. I love the system and I think you have a nice community here with some nice people.

I was a little fast here. Just tried the EA from Aeson. It is fine and there is no need for another EA.

I have read the rules my question is not about them as they are easily understood.
I would like to know how many who follow here are making profits on a regular basis apart from TooSlow, anyone using a practice account NOT included.
I have been into the thread frequently and tried to trade often but found it difficult to implement every opportunity and therefor become disheartened.I am back here because it is obviously a long lived thread and therefor must have merit.
Thank you

Hey TooSlow! This system has been excellent for me, I wanted to thank you as I am enjoying the simplicity of it! I had a question regarding the rule stating 'AVOID FREIGHT TRAINS', are you referring to a specific type of price movement that you shouldn't trade against when using HOLO? Just wondering if you could elaborate on that.

Thank you for this thread and for sharing your method, week in and week out!
