{quote} I've been enjoying all your videos and trying to learn this method of trading. I sometimes see you use "non-conventional" time frames for analysis and entry points. Can you explain why? On this trade, you used the 3h and 6h charts for analysis, why not the 4 and 8h charts? And was the entry on the 3h?
Ignored
Having non conventional time-frames available allows you to see levels from multiple perspective, Think of it as clarity in resolution when you can observe the same zone on multiple time-frames, it smoothens out the edges in data.

Hey everyone, I finally got a new broker after beeing booted from my last one and I am up and running again. Here is my first win from yesterday. Price did not reach my final target but lost no money on the second half of the position either.

Great analysis & trade Denden.

I have 2 doubts on your wonderful GBPCAD trade.

  1. I noticed that you entered the short slightly higher in the zone & not immed. when the price entered it. Can you tell me why.
  2. Also..was your tgt1 determined by the 30th May high... (like exiting just above it or anything)

Regards
Vicky

Hi Vickybha,

just my guess: I suppose that your second question answers the first one.
Having TG1 at that level - and having for rule to have at least a 3:1 - you can set your entry into the zone at a level that respects your rule.
Of course, you may miss that trade if it reverses earlier, but you have respected the plan.

From all the testing I have done, best Reward to risk is trying to tighten your entries. That means, entering at the ORIGIN of the move away. The level is most of the times wider than the origin of the move away so using lower time frames, I often refine my entries.

The exit was placed because a support was in the way. It also coincided with 3:1 RR. Traditionally its a good idea to take some off the table at those points because many people are looking at support and resistance.

How are entries taken using the S&D method? Are they taken as soon as price touch the zone or do you look for some sort of price action in the zone? thanks

Hello xiqat
There are several entry strategies used to enter a trade using the methodology, taking into consideration, the contexts of the proposed trade. Too many and intricate to discuss all that here in any great detail.
The most commonly used one though, is, entering at the zone when prices arrive there.

best wishes

Am I drawing the zones correctly? There's only 1 fresh supply zone on the daily. Prices are coming to a fresh demand zone to begin looking for a long? On the 1h, there is a fresh SZ to take a short if price retraces?

I prefer set and forget at extremes. If there are no obvious zones on lower timeframes, I will wait for price to get into the zone and begin to reverse. When i see an imbalance forming, I will enter on the retest.

It's not very strong, moving slowly sideways up. So would the better fresh DZ be around 0.7210 level?
