Oil is so yesteryear, how about 5 dollars per liter of water? (almost there as I type)
this is just the beggining of the great water rush, we cant drink oil.

Yeah, water is going to be the next hottest commodity. For all you skeptics, just wait and see. Wars will not fought over politics or oil but rather water.

PS: our previous discussion on the 28th about the GJ pinbar turned out pretty fruitful. I think it was a great way to end the year.. take a look:

I can see it already. Bush claiming "Amazon a terrorist shelter / weapon of mass destruction construction site", sending troops and water pumps :

I don't think it is a possibility at the moment unless Geo-political tensions with Iran go ape shit.

It may be simpler

Oil prices, which on Wednesday hit $100 a barrel for the first time, will probably go up further in the next five years unless economic growth falters and slows fuel demand.

Falling production in some areas outside OPEC, robust growth in demand led by countries such as China and a strain on oil refineries to make fuels from crude are likely to extend a rally
that began in 2002.

"Oil could rise further from here," said Kris Voorspools, analyst at Fortis in Brussels. "It's simple supply and demand fundamentals...Demand is going up and I think there is a structural problem with the refining sector. There's higher demand for higher-quality products and refineries are simply not up to making those kinds of products."

About the minutes I guess the most important thing to notice is that the only guy who voted against the cut did it because he wanted a bigger cut. Oh... and they say in 2009 everything will be in heaven again

Votes for this action: Messrs. Bernanke, Geithner, Evans, Hoenig, Kohn, Kroszner, Mishkin, Poole, and Warsh.

Votes against this action: Mr. Rosengren.

Mr. Rosengren dissented because he regarded the weakness in the incoming economic data and in the outlook for the economy as warranting a more aggressive policy response. In his view, the combination of a deteriorating housing sector, slowing consumer and business spending, high energy prices, and ill functioning financial markets suggested heightened risk of continued economic weakness. In light of that possibility, a more decisive policy response was called for to minimize that risk. In any case, he felt that well anchored inflation expectations and the Committee’s ability to reverse course on policy would limit the inflation risks of a larger easing move, should the economy instead prove significantly stronger than anticipated.
