USD/JPY Discussion

USDJPY price action on the daily time frame is making a bullish correction of the bearish drive that broke down the rising channel (purple) which had been intact for several weeks. Presently, price action is located at the 146.155 intra-day horizontal resistance below the channel. Nevertheless, we may still see further northward price action to retest an intra-day area of value in the early part of the week.

The daily candlestick has broken above the 21-day moving average, the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo Tenkansen line, and the Bollinger mid-band, so from a technical standpoint, a recovery in the market is expected. If it can break through the upper limit of the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo cloud on a 4-hour basis, which is around 146.42, a scenario in which the dollar will strengthen and the yen will weaken further is also possible.

Fundamental perspective
Unless the situation worsens significantly, the direction of a 25bp rate cut at the next FOMC meeting is not likely to change (there is little chance of speculation of a 50bp rate cut resurfacing), so we expect the dollar/yen exchange rate to continue to rise. (A combination of rising US interest rates → US dollar buying and rising US stocks → risk appetite selling of the yen.)

Idk. I feel like any reversal must of been on very small time frames. Nothing I saw of real concern. I think this gets back to 147 tonight/ today sometime. Been making small long scalps. If it breaks down to 146.30/20 will probably part ways with my extra positions. But overall still very bullish.

Got completely out to reevaluate... gl peeps.

Ended up shorting this in my second account. If this goes down off ISM numbers coming up, gonna go back long. Looking at possibly 144.60 area. Let's see what happens.

USDJPY - Buy

Sorry for last night anyone that might have got hit on my bad call. Nothing in the forex is perfect.

Anyways, missed my initial re entry to go long at 145 thought it might go lower. But scalped enough to make up the difference. Wouldn't be surprised to see it re test 145 but I'm in this for 149+ so don't feel like getting crazy over a couple of pips, rather incur the draw down instead of possibly missing the move.

Back to long.

Fallen enough?

Due to better economic indicators than the previous month, the probability of a 0.5% interest rate cut for the US dollar has decreased. The dollar is likely to strengthen this month.

We have a downtrend on usdjpy. I expect a retest of the bottom red horizontal line - 140.18. It seems that a possible change in the trend will not come before the day of the announcement of US interest rates 16th september, so I am expecting further declines on USDJPY. I drop my view if price move above purple SMA line on my weekly chart or the price will rise above the last lower high 147.19.

I'll start buying at 134, if not I won't be buying at all.

USDJPY price action on the daily time frame broke below a rising channel (purple) on August 5 but was challenged by bulls for a northward retracement within the channel. A bearish pushback that broke below the channel was resisted by bulls which resulted in a consolidation below the channel. Presently, price action is in a bearish mode, and we may see further southward drive in the early part of this week. The dominant technical structure is bearish.

I see USDJPY bullish, USD is gaining strenght and we hit a support area on the daily/4HR chart. Im looking for us to go back to 145.000

I completely agree with what you say. Politicians will be forced to reform with the same thinking as Uniqlo's CEO Yanai. If things continue as they are, the gap in national power will widen and the value of the Japanese yen will fall both fundamentally and technically.
