Sorry Mastermind, but that is not true.

There's a chatlog existing (in German), where a client is reminded, that they are no ECN broker. They are STP!
And it makes sense. I would even go that far to claim, that not a single non commission broker can offer real ECN accounts.

Though i had some trouble with them, they always reacted in a professional way until now including generous refundings.

Regarding the MM model i am not sure. There are reviews indicating a slight risk of getting b-booked. So i wouldn't exclude MM.

All in all they are STP and most likely MM.

I would like to open an account and fund it with £1000 via Visa card to test for a while.

On the Activetrades website it says "We do not charge any fee on the first deposit" with a credit card.
Does anyone know if Halifax make a charge for depositing 1k into a UK company like Activetrades?

I don't have an Halifax account but if they do not make a charge for other card payments (in shops or so) they won't make one for paying AT.

Thanks for the reply.
No they do not charge for using the card in shops or online and I always pay the full amount each month.

I asked because I have a vague recollection from many years ago when someone deposited funds into a UK spreadbetting firm and they were charged, I think they were told the charges were because it was seen as gambling. Maybe the rules have changed now.

I have accounts with Metrobank and Clydesdale for my everyday banking needs. I remember I made a card payment to a spread betting firm and my bank did not charge me anything for that. However I just found this:

Check whether you will be charged a fee. Some card companies will charge you a small charge on gambling transactions, also interest rates on any borrowings for bets or gaming may be higher than normal for cash advances. This information will be clear in your Terms & Conditions supplied with your card.

On another note: Please remember that there are some withdrawal regulations/restrictions for card deposits in general.

Interesting information Jens.
I did manage to contact someone at Halifax and they told they do not think there would be a charge but to telephone card services to check.

From Activetrades
"Please note that in case you funded your account via a Debit or Credit card, we will refund, in the first instance, to the card used, and up to the amount of the deposit received. Any profits will be sent via bank wire."

Actually I would be happy to have any/all the withdrawals made to my bank account via a bank transfer which are free and should reach the account the same day if initiated in the morning.

I got a call and was expecting it to be Activetrades as I have applied to open an account.

It was a someone from Admiral markets, she had my name, telephone number and private email address.
I have never contacted them for anything including a demo account.

Whenever I sign up for a demo account I use a different e-mail address, name and invalid phone number to stay anonymous.

I have only ever given those details to one broker in the past.

Very annoying that my details have been passed on.

I'm not sure I understand you correctly here. You say AT passed your information on to AdmiralMarkets? Might be interesting to find out what they have to say about that. Did you contact them?

Anyway, I believe that is pretty common in that business. I received a few calls from Cyprus based brokers I had never contacted after applying for a demo account somewhere ...

I cannot say for sure that AT passed the details on but no other broker has ever been given those details before.

When AT called me soon after to ask for more ID I asked where he was calling from and he said Bulgaria.
Why on earth do I send a copy of my driving licence and utility bill to a UK company if it is sent to Bulgaria?

I though they were a UK based company and I even asked this a week or so ago on live chat.

Bulgaria is perhaps just the call center location, many British banks or insurers have their call centers in india for example. It's a lot cheaper after all, someone has to pay the bill for low spreads I'd assume.

Yes BT have Indian call centres and the operatives are usually very efficient, I dealt with one on Saturday and she was great.
Apparently AT have offices in Buglaria and Italy too. I love Bulgaria and am going back there this Summer. It just surprised me that my UK application got sent there.

Still waiting for account to be opened.
I got bored with waiting so contacted Darwinex and they opened my account 30 minutes after I sent them the documents.

Does anyone know why the prices of the DAX on activtrades always seem to be like 30 pips higher than the prices of other brokers?

ActivTrades is offering prices based on FUTURES not on cash/spot/index.

Yesterday there was a problem in activtrades server. They solved it in 10 minutes.
However Activtrades is one of my favorite brokers.
Spreads execution deposit/withdrawal regulation etc All is quite good. I dont think they are perfect but they are good enough.

I just closed an account at activtrades. My main concerned was about latency/delay. I had sometime to wait for 15s-20 seconds for a close order to be executed.
I trade with other broker (XM, Traderway,..) and such problems are not visible at the first stance.

And 4 days ago, one of my winning order with a stop above the buy price (so theorically safe) was closed with a loss. Someone in Activtrades told me that a gap appeared on the cotation and that why my stop loss was not executed at that price but much lower.
I explained that this gap was not on my chart(neither on other broker chart) but they stay on their position.

Enough for me.

I have problems with MT5, last 1/2 hour, now is even more, there is no connection at all, all servers are down.
My internet is working just fine, so it is not me the problem.
Anyone ?
