This isn't buy and hold. Even when you're frustrated don't vary
from the method. You were almost half way there (entries not
too bad) before. Exits weren't there is all. Stick with practicing
just like post #1. Throwing caution to the wind and kamikaze
trading, even with pennies is really counterproductive. I'm only
a step or two ahead of you so I don't mean to sound like I know
a lot. Practice in a focused fashion now. Then worry about
calculating R/R. Of course R/R stinks right now - you haven't
learned how to scalp quite yet.
Just trying to help out, not sound smart.

Good Post,

The best way to learn in my opinion is by not just smashing a buy/sell button on a simulator. But to be live using real money (small amount) once you are live all of the emotions kick in.

At first treat each possible entry that if it fails it will cost you a lot. You will learn so much faster .

Hey speaking of Oanda, has anyone ever ran both FX Trade and FX Game at the same time? I used to do that a few months ago to compare the feed and it seems to me that FX Game's feed is faster than the one on FX Trade. Anyone notice this? It was like that for me all the time, not just a one time occurance. It's kind of like watching quotes on EFX and FX Trade at the same time. FX Trade comes out slower.

Just to add to this, I think it's a great idea to trade with a small amount of money in a live account after you learn all the basics. It will help keep you in line and often times prevent you from making a trade that doesn't fit the criteria 'just to see what happens', because it will be your money after all, no matter how small. You will also get comfortable much quicker if you trade with real money. Just my personal opinion.

1. Walked away from the computer so I set TP/SL in the first trade; Not a pretty good entry (in the middle of a move).

2. I was expecting this move; I saw hesitation in price-action so I exited. Price went a little down and moved up from there (to 161.28 at time of this writing).

It's the fast part of the rainbow. On the original ones this part
was red like this one. Thus, the name.

Also: Not to sound like a commercial, but the e-book will
answer so much and save you lots of time.

Here's the flame from a few minutes ago. In the first case it tried
to flare and kept meeting support and no progress. When it really
does flare and take off, like in the second case, be ready to jump
off since they can really flicker out quickly.

Someone mentioned that they saw demo prices faster than live? That seems like it could be dangerous to Oanda and quite beneficial to the trader.....hmmm esp on 5sec chart. I wonder if trading live off FXGame prices qualifies technically as arbitrage and you could get your account flagged and terminated if they could tell you were doing it. I would think they could---even if you weren't running demo and live on the same pc, it'd show them both on the same IP address.

I also have seen the prices slower on FXTrade than EFX--and the Intellicharts demo is slower than them both :-). Hopefully the new EFX RemoteTrader charts will make this all a moot point for anyone w/ over 400.00 USD to their name. Heh. (when they finally come out. not much in this thread about what should be to us a very highly anticipated event!)

I've been following this thread and trading my version of the rainbow for a little while now---I stubbornly stuck to eur/usd at the beginning, it being the only pair I had any experience with, partly because of the spread on Oanda, and partly because of familiarity. I started watching eur/jpy though, and over time became a convert :-)... quite impressed. I saw the potential of the much wider range of the swings and the smoothnes. I am now trading it exclusively and I am experiencing much better results. After 4 years!! of frustration w/ eur/usd trying to find a way to get profit out of those 30sec swings and missing out on the big moves out of fear from my losses during the chop, I feel such relief. However, I am also feeling a lot of fear. I worked so HARD to get any winners on eur/usd, now they actually come w/ the deliberate effort of smart entries w/ my rainbow. Now I have that feeling of fear that someone will kill my golden goose. :-) I tell myself that the years of chart watching are giving me the experience to make smart entries and finally paying off. I'm just finding it hard to believe my own eyes---how can a currency move in a manner that a profit can be made by trading it smartly? Why would "they" allow that? LOL.

Just my thoughts/fears/dreams on the eve of my American Thanksgiving. I am thankful for so much, and must also say a sincere thank you to LT for introducing me to the eur/jpy and also to all of you who post your charts and trades over and over again so my thick skull would be willing to try it out for myself.
