Hello folk
Can I ask you to share your opinions about these results?
There are the standard test reports, generated by MT4, htmls and gifs.
Symbols are USD, CHF, AUD, NZD , EUR, CAD, GBP against JPY.
Initial deposit is low, 1000$. Testing period starting on 1, Jan, 2014 up to last days of Jan, 15
Reports are presenting the results, generated by my EA.
I am looking for opinions about these results, are they optimistic for future deep testing ?
That's why I dont discuss the strategy, I am interesting in"black box" style evaluation.
I hope to discuss strategy later.
Thanks

Thanks, imifx, for your opinion.
I continue to work on this EA and testing results are similar, although different for various pairs. It is natural thing.
But what is important for me:
1. How relevant and predictable behaviour of the EA in the future, basing on existing history data?
2. What are requirements of the potential investors to testing procdures, what they want to see to be optimistic
about concrete EA?
May be , these questions are important for other designers too.
Thanks

Have you tested the EA with real ticks?
Trading is the hardest way to make easy money...

I have been developing my own ea for a long time (7 years) and I can tell you from experience that unless your ea sails smoothly on historical data starting from Jan 1, 2007 thru now, you can not expect live trading results are not going to be similar to backtest.

I agree with you. More than results are depending on starting date.
Look two examples . In my case, I see the perfect results starting from 2013-10-01 and total catastrophe for 2014-03-1 starting date. I have expected differences, it is not a linear -in-time system, but not so radical.
So, what is the sense to backtest? This question sounds as trivial one and answered many times, but again and again ask myself,
what conclusions I could get from this backtest?

Abhimanyu, 7 years? It means, I have 5 years before myself...)

At least. I have my ea working smoothly for 8 years for 8 pairs and still live results are not similar to backtest. Reason is the way price moves is different all the time. Some jpy pairs will go up 1000 pips, 2000 pips in straight line with hardly any retracement and some time price just hangs around in a very narrow range. I have selected this date, Jan 1, 2007 because I feel that retail fx really took off since that date and volume has gone up significantly. Technical analysis works well when you have a very large number of participants because at all time someone thinks price is too high and other think price is low.

I am really missed with testing results. I have tested EA for usdchf and usdjpy pairs on historical data. Starting from
01-01-2014,
01-04-2014,
01-07-2014
up to today ( 03-03-2015)
I have three absolutely different results. How I can make any conclusion about EA in this situation?

Things became more interesting. I did not see similar results before.
The main question, how historical data correlates with real...
Rather, not concrete prices, but tendencies. Simple speaking, has testing result the real value or not.
