Hello vvfish, I have being trading for close to 10 years or more....and most of my good results came from straddling the news with a 15pips buy stop and sell stop order.
Over time, if you know how to deal with whipsaw when news are released, I think one can be very certain of consistent success with this strategy.
Pls, what's your take on this strategy.

Trading on news only works with a market order and when using an advisor that traces profit.
You need to enter the market 1-3 seconds before the news in the right direction.
You need to set up the indicator so that you can see exactly where the price will go.
