Dukascopy Unavailable Trading 04 Sept Rant

I have several shorts set up for the past three days on several Eur and GBP crosses.

I check today and the platform states " This instrument is temporarily unavailable for online trading...blah blah...call the trading desk at..."

Needless to say that you cannot get a hold of the Trading Desk.

I moved to Dukascopy (and away from Alpari) because I thought that a quasi ECN would be better. SO much for that. The Entry, SL and TP lines still show on my chart but the orders have disappeared. Hopefully when they become available that they are not filled at some stupid price point.

Any other br0kers causing issues today

to trade and code, keep both simple... no call to impress....h

There was an issue earlier with the platform. What you need to do next time that happens is shut down JForex and restart it. I had the same thing happen at the same time during the ECB news where my order panel was flashing between the quotes and the "instrument unavailable" prompt, but it worked fine after I restarted the program.

After 3 calls and 4 emails they cancelled my orders. The Sell Stop was rejected due to slippage. OK. I will agree with that. But then they kept the order and turned it into a Sell Limit. I personally prefer that they just delete the order if they cannot fill it instead of having a possible spike take my now Limit order and have it go against me.

I am not a News trader and these orders were here for a week just sitting.

I did the disconnect/reconnect but did not think to do a complete shutdown.

I just restarted the platform and I can trade.

It is always the simple solution. Could have just entered at the market instead of spending time wasted. You think that Support would have mentioned that.

Oh well. Wait for the retrace and find another place to enter.

I'm glad you got it solved.

I don't think it's a server problem because the tick data has no gaps. It could be some kind of memory overload or issue with the Java script. Whatever it is, it doesn't happen that often but you'd think Support would know how to fix it. (I've been with them 5 years and this has happened maybe 2-3 times)

So not something that should cause me to run away in your opinion.

Currently searching for another broker that will accept CAD deposits so I have a backup.

Flyer415.... I can't figure out how to message you directly, so I'm posting here, the most recent thread you started. My apologies to all of you for this being off-topic.

I have a question regarding something you once posted:

"...the best way to trade forex in canada is through a corporation. Create a numbered company and use that as the account owner with you or your trust as the beneficial owner. It will be considered a CCPC and taxed at 11% on the first $500,000 of profits annually. Note that this is profits so your expenses can be deducted off the top.

After that then just dividend the funds out to your trust and pass those through to yourself, your spouse/kids who are older then 18. In BC you can earn somewhere around $42,000 tax free if the CCPC dividend is your only source of income."

So, there are a million opinions about this on the internet; there are those who say you need six full-time employees to qualify as a business in order to claim at the 11% rate. I've just set up a corporation and mentioned as much to a family member, who is a lawyer, and he said I'd be better off claiming as an individual.

My question to you is: are you operating in the manner described above? And does CRA go for it? Calling your trading gains business income taxable at 11% in the corporation, then paid to you as dividends (and taxed again unless your sole source, in which case there is an exemption for the first $42,000 as noted)? Do you still stand by the information above?

I'm just super curious because I'm setting up to trade from within a corporation, and want to make sure it's the right way to go. Your post was the most definitive statement regarding the advantages that I've come across, anywhere.
