Trading Made Simple the right way, and other trading lessons

Sooo glad this thread has been restarted and not lost in all the white noise as before.

I have followed this method quite rigorously however I have had continued problems of my TDI redrawing when the charts are reloaded. So signals not so strong before the reload and after the event they look great. I am not for one minute saying its the system although it has been suggested its my brokers data.

I am on my third broker and I still have this problem. I have resorted to using Stochs for the entry alongside TDI and have developed around that but do want to adopt this indicator if I can resolve this issue.

Any ideas much appreciated.

The TDI does redraw when the charts are reloaded, however, if you take into account price action on the timeframe you're on (and the one above) it shouldn't be a problem in live trading.

I live in a town near Milan (Italy), this is where the situation is very difficult, I thought things were better in Australia.

Our politicians in Italy fight over their SALARY, but they don't care about the poor people they "DIE OF HUNGER".

My wife and I are at home without work, the company we worked for has closed, relocation to China, now we have rented house to pay, etc.

I was hoping for trading, I did some courses here in Italy (Elliott, S/R, Gann etc.) with promises to be profitable later this month. None of this, fortunately for me they are still with a demo account.

I too, don't have big dreams of becoming a millionaire - only a small extra at the end of the month from trading would really be a great help for my family.
I begin to think that I am denied in this work or it is the GURUs I met in Italy who are speculators, who take advantage of people with the deception of promises that do not exist.

For several months I have read all the posts of the RB method [Trading Made Simple (r)], it seemed at the beginning that it worked but then I realized that I lost all the PIPS I had won.

With this message of mine I would like to ask all those who are profitable in this group, above all to "renofaith" if they have understood the "Eric" method of helping less able people, not because we are ignorant in this work but perhaps because we cannot to understand some concepts.

Surely it is very difficult for me to understand why my mother tongue is not English but if you too have had my own problems it means that it is not us who do not understand but others who do not want to explain some fundamental concepts.

I donīt quite come here often and donīt quite earn lots of $ using this TMS, but Iīm studying it and finding it very good.
What went wrong in the last trade is that you didnīt wait for the price to cross the yellow moving average.
You can notice that you did it in the previous trades.
In post #214 the price tried to touch the yellow MA but failed, showing that it was a continuation in the down side, and according to Ericīs method should have made another sell.
Thatīs my understanding of your posts.

One of the things that I'm struggling with, is something that may already been asked. But I haven't found the answer. So here we go.

One enters when the TDI does what it should do when a new candle is painted. So the moment one decides is when the new candle is painted.

Once you're in a trade, your next action is watching for an exit.
BigE: "Exit your trade when the green TDI line goes flat, starts to hook over or makes a check mark reversal."

Here Im struggling a bit. Let say if you have entered a trade and when the price moves, the TDI lines also dynamically moves with it. Goes flat during that same candle sometimes due to the price moving. But is that already an exit according to TMS by BigE? I have had a lot of situations during my testing where the TDI goes flat during the candle I entered the trade, but worked out very fine eventually. What is the rule. Enter when it goed flat? No matter if it does during the candle you entered, the close or even during the next candle?

Hopefully I described clear enough what I mean. I'd be happy to clarify where possible/necessary.

I understand your question and you're right. During the course of, say, a 4h candle the TDI can go through all sorts of acrobatics.

I have read a lot of Big E's early posts but, like some have alluded to, I got tired of the ridiculous in-fighting that has taken over the thread. So, I'm no expert and I'm happy to be corrected but I got the impression that Big E's philosophy was to get out when pips were in the bank and to get out very early if it was obvious the trade was going against him. The shape/direction of the TDI was a tool he used as a bit of an early warning system and he seemed to repeat the message about getting out when the TDI tells you to. He seemed to deliberately avoided the subject of setting targets and stop losses with everyone having to find their own method.

All I can suggest is perhaps dropping to look at the next lowest time frame and then moving to look at the time frame higher to see if the candles and/or TDI (or Stochs if you use them) are telling you anything that might point to an exit.

Good day there.

Oh gosh it's been a while. I had some injuries and recovery and stuff took a toll off me. It's time to be back and start revise and train again.

Thanks for your comment. Correct me if I am wrong, Eric did not trade and concern about the yellow MA. Or I missed out the rules? I need to read again.

Shall come back with some training chart next time, just to share.

Hey there Carnifex,

(If I understand your question correctly) In my opinion, you should decide if the TDI shows exit signal after the candle (that you entered) closed. With this, you will be able to determine if the candle is really a good entry.

Eg.: If I am gonna enter at this candle (say candle #2), I will wait until this candle close and when 3rd candle appear, I will analyze and see if the trend / TDI is going according to my analysis / observation when I enter. If the 3rd candle appear and my TDI went check-marked/flat, I will exit immediately, analyze and wait for another entry. During the course of run in candle #2, I will not exit.

I hope I am right?

You are correct: Eric didnīt care about PA crossing yellow ema. In Eric words, like for instance, in TMS post #307: “I donīt worry about PA crossing 5 ema. I totally depend on the TDI for my entry signals... Always entering when green crosses red and only on candle 1 or two depending what the TDI shows... otherwise I pass and look for another set up...”.

But Eric also said in TMS post #309 “When you enter a trade using the TDI.. watch PA as it arches back and forth to the yellow 5ema line...”. Here are Ericīs big point: Watch PA nearing 5 ema.

Eric also pointed in TMS post #718: “ At one time I used the 5ema in a different way. Back then if a candle closed across the 5ema it was the set up candle. I would enter the trade at the beginning of the next candle if it was the same color.... and that still works... this is more conservative...”.

I go by this approach because I am more conservative.

If I remember correctly, the PA crossed 5ema was his previous method, The 5 method.
Thanks for the advices for beginners link there. I will need to revise and read through Eric's notes again.

And, good catch on the "watch PA nearing 5ema" if you trade using his 5 method.

An entry that I got quite some time ago while I was resting and recovering.

Red line showed the candle #2. Candle #1, TDI just touched and not crossed yet. Hence, entry point should be candle #2.
Good TDI angle (1 o'clock), at around 50 of TDI, Stoch confirming direction.

If conservative, should have exit at candle #4 when TDI pull back, and re-enter candle #6 when trend continue and TDI bounce.

This trade will get you greens with TMS method.

Another to share. Still trading on demo.

Entry at candle #1 (1st candle to change colour after TDI crossed), angle is decent (almost at 5 o'clock), stoch confirming direction, level is around 50 TDI.
Plus, the TDI high is close to the previous high.

Anything that I missed out that could have make the entry more confident? Or I misjudge anything?

XAUUSD H1 long setup
I saw this PA ranging during Asian session and then it starts to break to the upside with TDI green crosses red and stochs confirming.

PA starts to print upper wicks. Look left, it is the same level of previous resistance too.
TDI near 68 and is about to cross but not yet! Stochs is above 80. I am keeping an eye on it in the next 4hours...
Important to note is the trend is down but we can see it is ranging for more than a week now (from May 18th), so the trend is on pause and we want the market to show its hands first...
