Important note :the latest version of Trade copier is located at the very end of this thread. Use latest one only and always for your own good.

Meta Trader 5 users know that Meta Trader 5 is the powerful FX trading tool. However the choice of brokers might be limited for the time being. I really didn't like this fact because some countries does not have access to the live account for Meta Trader 5 platform and they can't make money.

There is one way of overcoming this. The solution is to copy trades from your MT 5 to MT 4 terminal if they are installed in the same PC. In this way, you can use full functionality of Meta Trader 5 and you don’t have to worry about looking for the broker for your Meta Trader 5 platform.

When you have both MT 4 and MT 5 platforms installed in the same PC of yours, “MT5 to MT4 Trade Copier EA” can copy all your positions in your Meta Trader 5 terminal to your Meta Trader 4 terminal without much delay. The copying time from MT5 to MT4 is quite fast and I personally don’t feel a lot of delay. (Although I did not experience yet, the copy time might be influenced by tick arrival frequency in your chart. However most of time, the copying time is almost instantaneous and it is less than 1 second.)

Installation and use for the "MT5 to MT4 Trade Copier EA" is really simple and straightforward.

From now, you can copy any trades (positions) from your Meta Trader 5 EA in real time and you can trade with your favourite MT 4 broker.

I guess this was something desired by many MT 5 users including myself.

Then enjoy this small toy and your trading.

Kind regards.

Trade copier is updated to MT5 to MT4 Trade Copier version 3.8.

You can use this for MT4 symbol with suffix for example, EURUSD.ecn or EURUSD.m or EURUSD.e, etc.

Hi Auto

A few issues
1) Pls include RM (risk ratio, that is sender's equity/receiver's equity * RM factor) and fix lot if this is possible

2) Copier KILLS all open trade with same currency that copier is on despite these trades were not created by copier. On mt4 there were 2 open eurusd trades that were opened earlier. Once receiver was placed on it, it forced closed these 2 trades, thinking that they never existed on the sender's list. Managed by magic number or a channel name (similar to mt4i free copier)

3) ONLY allows copy of trade when placed on receiver's for that cur that would be traded. Eg Sender trades GU. EU. receiver needs to open 2 charts to receive the trade and it makes it very complicated to determine risk level

PS: Not sure whether the mt5 copier can be used for receiver, that is, mt5 to mt5 trade copy. It is one way street as I understand it always mt5 to mt4

Hello.

You can use "LotMultipier" to scale down or scale up the lot size in your MT4 terminal. For example, if you set LotMultiplier= 2.0, then every time your MT5 opens 1.0 lot size position, then your MT 4 terminal will open 2.0 lot size position. So you can calculate LotMultiplier based on your starting balance in your MT 5 and MT 4 terminal.

The main idea behind this trade copier is that the identical size of your current floating position is copied from your MT 5 terminal to MT 4 terminal. So once you have attached Trade copier, it will try to keep the same size of your current floating positions in both your MT 5 and MT 4 terminals. Therefore, if you opened some positions manually in your MT 4 terminal but they are not existing in your MT 5 terminal. Then the trade copier will close your positions in your MT4 terminal.

Note that I developed this trade copiers for people who want to run MT 5 expert advisors and copy the trades to MT 4 terminals so they can use MT 4 brokers for trading. Indeed this is the main function of this trade copiers. Good news is that you can run many expert advisors at the same time and coping time for trades is not too bad. It will be less than 1 seconds most of time. Another good news is that you can copy positions from your MT 5 terminal to maximum 5 MT 4 terminals.

Kind regards.

Hi Auto

Use LM is dangerous, as when there is higher DD, receiver can still create a bigger lot size due to LM setting. I agree that biggest issue with DD is that sender itself may have higher DD, then EA is wrong or strategy is not right

But can u relook into letting the EA managed its own trade and not closed trades that are not opened by other EA/manually? Currently copier will not kill the trades if its not traded for that cur. That is, my receiver copier is on EURUSD, sender is only trading eurusd, then I did a manual usdcad sell trade. It leaves it alone. But if another EA or copier copies EURUSD from another sender, then it will kill it!

Copier has to be placed on multipler receiver chart especially when sender trades more than 1 currency. So if sender trades 5 currency, receiver needs to open 5 charts. Since these are different cur I guess it wont kill other trades from the same sender.

Eg sender sends 2 EURUSD, 3 GBPUSD
So on receiver, I have 2 charts, EURUSD, and GBPUSD both must have the receiver mt4.
In this above case, copier will not killed GBPUSD trades? Pls verify.
(* For manual trade so long as its not EU or GU copier leaves it alone, reference above usdcad whereby sender and receiver is on EU chart and sender trades EU only)

Pls consider allow us to attach to ONE chart that can trade multiple symbols so long as symbol is enabled on market watch. I dont know whether receiver can map suffix/prefix (usually broker has suffix, has yet to come across broker with prefix) as well as special mapping, eg, Gold to XAUUSD

I am not sure how easy or difficult it is to copy from mt4i personal trade copier, but I know of programmer which modify this free copier for their own usage. It will be great if you could emulate some logic of mt4i personal trade copier (receiver for mt4) to let us have similar functionality.

Hi Auto

I have re-read the user guide, on the receiver MT4 I only need ONE receiver EA (copypositionsfrommt5) to trade all symbols, except special symbols with a "#".

Suffix is taken care by the receiver, but special mapping is missing, eg, Gold to XAUUSD
(best to use with similar broker MT5 to mt4, except some brokers dont have mt5 )

I have yet to see any trades yet for that symbol, so lets c what brings. I shall report back once the signal provider started trading (ie, sender will get those trades traded by provider)

(PS: LM is still manageable, but not as good risk management for the receiver, still would love if you could consider RM or equity or balance based %/$ similiar to mt4i copier)

Hello my friend.

Yes, you are right. You just need to attach one EA (CopyPositionsFromMT5) to copy the positions from your MT 5 terminal even if you want to trade many currency pairs at the same time. You don't have to worry about suffix in your MT 5 terminal and you only need to worry about the suffix in your MT 4 terminals.

The working mechanism behind this trade copier is to keep the same floating positions between your MT 5 and MT 4 terminals. For example, if you have 0.1 lot GBPUSD, 0.2 lot EURUSD, 0.3 lot EURGBP. Then the trade copier will copy exactly same positions to your MT 4 terimnals for all these three pairs. To trade all these symbols, you just need to attach one EA in your MT4 terminal.

Also note that you can copy your MT 5 positions up to 5 MT 4 terminals from the single MT 5 terminal. To do this, you just need to copy and paste the terminal path.

This is very advantegous if you are using multiple of MT 4 brokers for your live account.

Thanks for other suggestion too.

Kind regards.

Kind regards.

MT 5 to MT4 Trade Copier EA Version 3.9 Updated.

New features added in the MT 5 to MT 4 trade copier version 3.9

1. Automatic scaling of MT 5 lot size is added. Automatic scaling of MT 5 lot size is done by comparing the balance in your MT 4 and MT 5 terminals. But you can still use “ManualLotMultiplier” variable to scale the MT 5 lot as you wish. Just set “AutomaticScaleOfPosition” = false, to use this manual scaling of MT 5 lot.

2. In version 3.9, the Trade Copier will not disturb any positions created by users or other Expert advisors in your MT 4 terminal.

3. Not new in version 3.9, but this Trade Copier can copy MT 5 positions up to five different MT 4 terminals in your PC. This option is great for your live trading when you have multiple live accounts with different brokers.

[quote=auto9817;7403025]MT 5 to MT4 Trade Copier EA Version 3.9 Updated.

Wish it was that easy to also automate some parts of my life!

Just curious, in case of partial closure on Mt5, how will RM then be able to trace that mt4 transaction to close like wise? Eg if due to some round off calculation, mt5 opens 1 lot, mt4 opens, 0.07 (due to RM settings). Now mt5 closed 0.5, how will mt4 handle the partial closure? It may not make logical 50% closure.

In that case the trade copier will keep 0.04 lot in your MT 4 terminal. You can only open the lot size specified by your brokers (most of them use 2 decimal places). So it has do to some rounding.

The best way of using this trade copier is in fact to keep your MT 5 and MT 4 balance the same.

I developed this trade copier on the assumption that someone has a profitable Expert Advisors in Meta Trader 5 and they want to use this MT 5 profitable Expert advisors with MT 4 brokers.

Indeed this is good combination as there are more available brokers with Meta Trader 4 than Meta Trader 5 and Meta Trader 5 has some advanced features over Meta Trader 4. I like this combination.

Kind regards.

Hi Auto

I got the file error 5004. I created a sub folder name "Files" eg in the c:\program files (x86)\ICM-123456\MQL\Files. This is the folder I created and installed my mt4. Then I specify the path in MT5 and the file location in mt4. File error is no longer being reported by copier in MT4, but the entries are still being written to c:\users\appdata\roaming\....\metaquote\...\mql\files path.

It seems to work well, trades are being copied over properly. Should the trade info be written into the ICM-123456/MQL/Files path instead? I am not sure whether its coz after I got the error, I created the folder, thus, the copier didnt write anything into this "alternative" path, but still continues in the appropriate roaming\metaquote\mql\files path (the defaulted mt4 data folder path)

(NOT an error, just curious as to its behavior)

From the version 3.9 with 14 April release, I made a small minor improvement in the version 3.9 with 15 April release.

The improvement was made to reduce or remove the file open error when user attach MT 4 EA first before the MT 5 EA is not ready.

But still it is better to attach MT 5 EA first and then attach MT 4 EA later.

Note that the latest version is version 3.9 released on 15 April which is attached on this post. The manual is the same.

Hi Auto, once I created the alternative path its no longer writing 5004 errors, but its still writing trade info (ie mt5 trades with symbols etc for mt4 copier) into mt4 data folder path instead of into the alternative c:\....\files path

MT5 is attached b4 mt4. Not sure whether this is coz I got the 5004 error, then create the alternative path, then change the path location in both mt5 and mt4. I hv to try it on a new install of mt4 by creating the alternative folder FIRST, then making sure that the path/location in both copiers point to this alternative path. Perhaps trade info would then be written into this path instead of the mt4 data folder file path

(NO issues whatsoever of trades being copied though despite the initial 5004 error and later creating the alternative file path)
* Strange issues: When trade close within 1 sec, the slave did not create that trade. It was logged as being sent on mt5 expert log, but nothing was written into the trade file log for mt4. I suspect the copier needs at least 1 sec to catch up and by that time, trade was closed and result in unsynch, thus slave will not create this trade. Wont work for fast scalper <1 min. But I did see a lot of file open error when that trade was created in mt5.

BEFORE I created alternative path, it continue to create the 2nd trade in slave properly. Unfortunately I didnt get hit with another trade that close within 1 sec on the sender, so cant tell u whether it was lagged in copier etc issues. It was after the 2nd trade that I created alternative path to avoid the file error

Whats ur testing/experience of copier regards to time (duration) req'd for trades? (eg trades cant be close within 1 sec, shld be at least 3 secs for copier to write the trade log, mt4 to pick it up, creates at broker's server end etc, lags in copier speed + broker execution speed)?

Hello my friend.

Thanks for your comments. In fact, I set to sleep the EA for 1 seconds for each copy of positions to avoid overloading of EA. I must admit this was stupid thought. I shall remove that sleep function to make the trade copier faster. or at least if someone buy the live account version then I will remove those sleep for faster copy of positions. Check previous version 3.9 with 14 April release. It will be much faster I guess than version 3.9 with 15 April release.
Without sleep function, the trade should be copied less than 1 seconds.

Kind regards.

MT 5 to MT 4 Trade Copier EA Version 5.0 Updated.

What is new in version 5.0?

In version 3.9, Sleep function between each copy of positions delayed the trade copying time. Therefore, in version 5.0, I removed this Sleep function for faster trade copy. This saves at least 1 seconds of copying time.
