Hi guys,

Attachments to follow are VT Based. So, Either you you use VT or translate them.

Been tradin' > a decade. Along the way, I've been intregued by a number of different trading methods. None of which [out of the box] seem to perfectly fit "My Trading Style". The FF Forum has certainly been a contributor to the methods that I have put under scrutiny as it contains some of the best detail of the systems posted here.[VWB would possably be the current penultimate example]

I am not suggesting that the following should be the winner but perhaps it may contain something that "Fits Your Style"

The following Image is of a TS Built for VT But I clawed it, then added 2 additional Indicators
All VT Code will be posted post haste.

Simple Combined Breakout System for EUR/USD and GBP/USD

  1. Determine the 06.00 CET – 10.00 CET High Low on EUR/USD and GBP/USD
  2. Determine the 10.00 CET – 14.00 CET High Low on EUR/USD and GBP/USD
  3. Set BuyStop at High + 5 pips and SellStop at Low - 5 pips for both timeframes and both currencies
  4. Set Target Price at entry + 80 pips for EUR/USD and entry + 120 pips for GBP/USD
  5. Set StopLoss at entry - 50 pips for EUR/USD and entry - 70 pips for GBP/USD. If the other side of the Breakout is within 50 pips for EUR/USD or within 70 pips for GBP/USD then the StopLoss will be that level (Longtrade: SL = Low range - 5 pips = SellStop; Shorttrade: SL = High range + 5 pips = BuyStop)
  6. Use a trailing stop of 30 pips for EUR/USD and a trailing stop of 40 pips for GBP/USD
  7. At 24.00 CET all orders expiring and close all trades at market. On Friday we do the same at 23.00 CET.

July +1352pips & October 2005 Profit +991 pips. Average per month so far +600pips/month

With help from James16 & Noos bar price action readings, you can add another addition 20% profit by exiting some winning trades before they becomes losing trades.

You efforts over on the VT forums are legendary. Have you modified just the indicators in this system or actually tuned its logic? Especially for the "James16 & Noos bar price action readings"...

I don't know what "James16 & Noos bar price action readings" are.
Neither do I - just saw them in the post above. But I was curious whether the tuning you did was merely visual, or actually affect the logic on opening a position.

Anyone want to back test this? seems simple enough.

i will write an EA for it so we have something to play with

just one small question.. why there is "combined" in the name of the system? i do not see any combination of EURUSD and GBPUSD... i see the same strategy traded independently on two different pairs with different parameters, but no interaction/combination/dependency between the EURUSD and GBPUSD parts

i'm done with backtesting
the results are mixed... the strategy worked really well in october 2005 (EURUSD +595 pips, GBPUSD +860 pips), but i have no idea how someone could get with the setting 1350 pips in july 2005.
I have made several runs:

July 2005
October 2005
July 2004 - April 2006
From begin of 2006 until now - with optimised parameters

see the attached results and the EA for metatrader4

the strategy has some merit, but is very susceptible to market changes. maybe there can be some changes made to improve the results. i also programmed no money management which would improve the results.

there is one thing i do not understand... you write: use 50 pips stoploss and 30 pips trailing stop
what is the stoploss good for, if the trailing stop is smaller? i can set the stopoloss to 50 when i place the order, but when the order is executed, the trailing stop changes instantly the stoploss to 30.
