1304 GMT [Dow Jones] Dollar gets a big boost from Bernanke's comments that Tsy and Fed are "carefully monitoring" exchange rates - sending EUR/USD to $1.5560 from just above $1.56 ahead of the comments, and USD/JPY. Fed chief's direct comments on exchange rate somewhat unusual for US central bankers; come ahead of G7 fin min meeting in Osaka and follow Tsy comments to media several weeks ago regarding USD. (ML)

They don't try and trick traders. It's just business. Let me find you a quote I wrote before the spike last Friday....Back in a moment

Clouds,
Ok, busy trading and can't find it...it's in Friday afternoon posts somewhere, you'll find it if you search. When we were sitting at 208.40 area I went Short with a Large SL above 210. I said that there was no way the big boys would let this drop happen with everyone sitting short onboard and that they would spike to 209.40-65 area to (a.) Take out short SL's and (b.) trigger longs
They did it with a huge spike in 15 secs from mid 208 to mid 209. They offloaded on the way down, but won't offload at too low a price. They need price to come back up for another offload. So, buy a few hundred million, bring the market up to the level you want, then offload when everyone else is Long. Take out the Longs SL's, accelerate price through 202/198 area.

Repeat cycle.

Thats just my contrarian view.

So how many traders do NOT think that the Big Dogs (and their friends) knew this was coming?.......

The question now is how many believe that this is the start of dollar strength.....or are they unpacking their bermudas......

Big boys? Who are they? The investment banks don't care, how would they benefit at all? You mean JP Morgan Chase, Ect? I don't think they are so obsessed with exchange rates, they offer loans, will keep your money, ect. Their competition is other banks, not us. Right?

Recovery of the dollar? No.
Weakness of other currencies? Yes.
Will this appear to strength the USD? Yes.

Yeah, this was an easy week ( I think so). But this happens like once in 2 months. That sucks.

it's really sad that even u big guy would fall for the same trap more than once. this pair sets itself for bigtime long before a major dump. this is my 12th time saying that.... u wont be seeing 210+ anytime soon...

if this is to "range" 209.30 will be an impossible breach.

the real target we have now is 192, i'm expectiong a big bounce from there into a ranging period then back down.
