Here is a chart that I was asking about earlier.
I am demp trading, so trying to learn.
I saw the first arrow by the cross hair that all looked on.
Then I saw the red arrow and wondered if it was a false move.
THen another green arrow???
Sure enough it went, just wonderiing if the 1st green arrow at the cursor was a correct read for a long.

Thanks inadvance for any input... Hope the chart uploads..

Similar situation with this one.
I saw the first green, go, then red, then green again.
Do I need to watch the slope direction more closely?

Any comments welcome.

Both examples posted worked out, total of 31 pips, now to just understand it better to know exactly why (or was I lucky).

I'm not sure what your questions are.

The first one looks ok.

The second one looks like the Laguerre might not have crossed until the second green arrow.

Both of your trades were valid entries as per the rules by wicker. According to wicker, the slope is more of a visual guide for overall trend direction and sometimes trades can be taken that are going opposite direction of the slope line. Correction: I believe Billbss is right, it looks like laguerre did not cross until 2nd green arrow on your second pic.

Just another set of eyes looking at it I guess is what I am looking for.
The first one did look better, the 2nd one had the Laquerre crosses at time of placing trade, then went back to flat as the next candle came down a bit.

The bigger question I guess is:

Should an arrow against us shortly after the entry arrow indicate that maybe we should get out of the trade as it is a bad setup?

Also, should I be looking more at the slope direction line at entry? I understand from reading here that this should be considered optional, but wonder if I should give it more weight.

Love the system and have not yet implimented the EA. I wonder if I will get way less signals, but more true ones with the EA.

If you follow the rules exactly, I don't think you had much trading oppertunities this week. (or am I wrong).

If the trade looks good to me, I take it, even when the "setup" is not perfect.

For example, went long eur/usd today at 1.3490.

Why: slope: blue, MACD:up, guppy's rising.
Laquerre was not perfect, already at 0.45 but I didn't care.
Waiting 3 days now for a trade...

Took 35 pips

Wiper,
Are you using the EA?
I am not sure if I want to load it yet or not, just so I learn without it's help.

Then on the other hand, with it I can set up the macning to alert on only the EA signals instead of all the 5 minute arrows I get where most of them are not a good setup.

Just wondering how you are using the system.

Thanks

edit: I do see an alert arrow at 8:35 central time that looked good, I just saw it 2 candles late as I was working.

tried it but could not get it to work , checcked code it is there add varible even copied and pasted the text from code no joy?

Censura, your current rainbow indicator is more than likely still in memory. MT4 needs to be purged and reloaded with the new copy. Close down your terminal session and restart it. MT4 will retain the GlobalVariable between session but it should reload the new code.

Also, I have updated my original post as I forgot to compile module 10 with the new code included. You can go back to the original post or pick it up here.

I belive that will solve the problem. Let me know if you are still having problems.

Arrows are not meant to be used as entries, they are alert arrows to let you know the 4 EMA has crossed the 8 EMA Before the EA was created,Wicker would check his chart if the MA crossover alert sounded to see if a valid trade was setting up. Hope that helps you!

Hi Gunset

I'm not sure - the arrows in themselves are not signals to trade (that is only one part of it) - ONLY when you get an ALERT (pop up window) is it a valid entry signal

hi. Sorry for questioning again, but I'm quite not understand. from the chart, the rainbow is in the correct position, the MACD above 1, and the Laguerre is crossing the 0.75. why is this condition not correct? please inform me.

Guys

This is a small upgrade you can control whether you want

1) Email Alerts
2) Regular Alerts

Both are input parameters

Enjoy

Paul (or anyone else)
Can you give me any idea why my EA doesn't seem to be working?
I loaded the 2 files from this post into the directory \experts directory (there is no experts\advisors directory on my machine).
I compiled the file with no errors.
I exited and relaunched MT4.
I attached the Expert Advisor to the chart.
I get the 2 lines of text with flat etc... for just a second and with the next tick it goes back to what looks like a normal screen.
The upper right screen has the text SignalTrendFollower with what looks like an "X" by it???

Any ideas?

You need to activate the EAs by clicking on the "Expert Advisors" on the top tool bar.

I almost threw my comp out the window because I couldn't get my happy face. First off I have never loaded an expert nor do I know what one is. Well I kind of do now. I'm going to try to explain this to help because I almost lost my mind today.
Download original from first page. Unzip... I use winzip. Open my comp, c drive, program files, metatrader 4, experts, indicators, templates...Drag the five min template across. Now back to winzip unzip the other zipped file and drag all indicators across from unzipped file to the indicators file. Close

Now download the two new files from page 14 post #203. One is an alert and the other is the Expert. These don't need to be unzipped. My comp, c dr, prog files, meta trader, experts...now drag the file that doesn't have the big indicator logo into experts. Now open experts, indicators, and drag the indicator logo across. Close

Open meta trader, open new chart, go up to and click on charts button, template, find trend follower 5 min and click on it this will configure the chart. This is original system this has everything you need to trade off of. Now for the alert and happy face and expert stuff. Find the navigator button it looks like a file with a star, click it, expert advisors, signal trend follower, right click attach to chart, close navigator, now go to top click on expert advisors and you should have your happy face. If you don't I screwed up it's 1:30am pst and I am going to sleep now. I was waiting for a good signal didn't get it. Back in this thread Paul mentioned something like compile... I don't know what that is. Also if anyone noticed if I left something out please add.

Thanks,
Vance
