Thanks Jo....the weather is forecast to turn very bad.....down south they are getting smashed as we speak, but it's quite nice here. The forecasters aren't always right though, and in the words of Bob Dylan....'You don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows!'

Awesome work as per usual, good on ya . I don't recall seeing a detailed weekly breakdown of your M5 performance. I assume, reading between the lines, that it averages around 5-600 pips per week?

Would you say your exits are still similar to what they would be in M5 (stepping stones from train station to station ie pivots+s/r until stopped in profit or clear PA in the opposite direction) just that the trade entry trigger is delayed?

Get those chores done.. I did most of mine yesterday

I don't really concern myself with weekly averages too much, the only reason I'm posting a week by week brief summary of the M15 4 week test is to let you all know how it's progressing. The more in depth and accurate analysis/results will appear when the test is complete. Monthly results show a more reliable picture than do weekly results.

Yep....entry and exit rules are just the same as I use on M5 trading. I'm trying to keep everything the same so that I will know whether the M15 TF is better suited to me or the M5 is. It's early days yet, but so far it appears that M5 entries and then managing the trade on M15 would bring the best results, but again, it's too soon to make that call.

Those entry/exit parameters would go hand in hand with Marcel Link's HPT book. Entering on the LTF and exiting on the HTF. Very interesting indeed and thanks much for keeping us in the loop. If you're comfortable with it, after the 4 weeks, perhaps you could share your 1 month totals on M15 versus 'your' monthly average on M5. Not that us 'GMTS turtles' will expect to do as well but at least this will give us an idea on average what we may gain by each approach. Thanks again for testing and giving us so much. We really appreciate it RJ.

May this be a green week for all of us GMTSers.

My monthly M5 average is not really a gauge of any use to anyone other than me! There are just too many variables to make it of any use because of the time zone I trade in, the number of pairs I trade, my account size and many other factors.

Let me say this again....the M15 test, I am doing for *ME*. I am just sharing my findings because someone else may find it interesting. The goal for *me* is, and has always been, to see whether the m15 is a better TF for me to trade on.

At the end of the day, if you are making consistent pips/day, no matter whether it is 20, 30, 50, 70 or whatever, and you apply the compounding system as per the spreadsheet on Post #1, you will do very nicely in a matter of months.

RJ,

Did you just exit your EJ trade at the Pivot just then?? Nice start to the week regardless.....

The M5 of your trade looked a bit messy for entry - M15 much smoother.

Yep....took the exit at the DP for +41.....we're off to a good start.

Funny that you are making the comparison between the M5 and M15....I just finished making some screenshots about that, which I'll post in a minute!

The UJ was the only Yen pair that looked good for an M5 entry this morning.

The M5 vs M15 dilemma......

On that EJ trade just closed, it showed the dilemma perfectly, in choosing either M5 or M15 as a favoured TF.....and more and more I am favouring M5 entries and M15 management and exit. Have a look at this....

On the M15 chart, you can see my entry at .840 and my exit at the DP. See that pullback mid way through the trade?......see how the Matrix wasn't really interested in an exit, and neither was the ASCTrend. For that reason I left it alone. However, a re-entry could have been made right after that pullback so I would have been able to scale in another trade to go with the still running original trade. Because the trade was somewhat counter to last Fridays trend, I did not do this. So....1 trade and an exit for 41 pips. Not too bad.

On the M5 chart, the entry would have been much earlier than on the M15....about 16 - 18 pips higher in fact. But look at the same pullback we were just looking at on the M15. Looks like the trend of Friday might try to resume, so maybe an exit here for about 8 pips would be in order. The PA looks bullish and the Matrix agrees, as does ASCTrend. So we get shaken out of the trade for +8. There is a re-entry opportunity, which I might have taken, and that would have given me another +34......for a grand total of +42!

So.....forget about the 1 pip difference, lets call it even.

What about if I had entered on the M5 and exited on the M15?? Lets see...... The entry would have been about .980 and the exit would have been the same...at the pivot. Total pips using the M5 entry and the same exit.....but managing the trade on the M15.....total pips would have been about +57.

So, by entering on the M5 and managing and exiting on the M15, we would have an extra 17 pips (more or less) and not got shaken out of the trade, or had any anxious moments. Plus we could have scaled in another trade and added another 30 pips to the deal. Scaling in at that level from such a nice entry was much more likley because the first trade would already be at BE......whereas on the M15 it would not have been.

Interesting?

UJ was perfect...EJ was still pretty good. The stoch was at it's peak just a few candles previously.....the move was part of the same larger move that began when the stoch was high just before the Tokyo open.....as I explained in my little video

Interesting RJ.

For me I wouldn't have taken the first entry on the M5 as it looked a bit messy but the M15 did look good (so no trade there)......but the second (re-entry) trade looked much better.

I understand what you're saying, but I probably would have taken that M5 entry (if I wasn't taking only M15's for the next 2 weeks), simple because the M15 looked good. Having seen a convincing M15 trade in the process of setting up, a look at the M5 shows that all is in order....the only messy part was that the M5 stoch was not coming down nice and smooth....but it was stroll coming down from it's peak not too long before Tokyo open. If you watch that little movie I made it's explained there....

Hi Everyone

Good Start for the week RJ

I am doing M5 entries at the moment, but i am also keeping an eye on M15 . So far what I have learnt is M5 entries gives you more roam, and more profit however M15 might help you in getting out of some bad trades

Yes, the move did start prior to the Tokyo open....but it followed such a big up move then a sideways market ensued......(to me it was having a breather) and then sold off.....I wasn't happy with the M5 so I stayed out. I was actually expecting a continuation of the up move.......was I predicting.......well no because we don't predict here but that was the logical follow on trade for me....am I wrong here??
