Yeah, the Euro (EU & EJ) is retracing now as well. I might consider a long if we get a good signal soon, but we are up at the ATR and pivots, so probably not. My guess is the Euro longs are done for the day. But I resist the urge to form an opinion or predict.

*** VISUAL EXPLANATION OF THE STOCH ***

I would like to give a little contribution about the stoch behavior (particularly when there is a trend) without any math formula but just in a visual way to help young traders and anyone who doesn't like math.
This doesn't want to be an exhaustive explanation and I hope not to offend experienced traders and expecially my friend RJ ... please don't ban me after this


We need to make a window with the amount of bars we want to take under control. In genesis model we use a 11 period stoch (see red bubbles in the pic).
Then we move these window every time the bar closes and change the height according to the new low or high. In this way at every bar close we can draw a 11 bars wide box with height = (HIGH –LOW).

Well .... the stochastic is the position of last bar close in percentage of the box height.
Example:
Low = 1,3010
High =1,3033
Close =1,3015

===> Stoch = 21%

The problem in this way is that the curve we achieved is very nervous … therefore we prefer to smooth it introducing a simple moving average (bold blue line in the pic). The parameter which helps us to smooth the stoch is “slowing”.

In the genesis model we use 3 which means a simple MA3 periods.

Finally if we remove the original curve we get the smoothed signal curve …

At the end Mr.Lane introduced another curve which is a simple MA of this signal (red line in the pic) and developed some entry rules based on these two curves.

We will find a sequence of windows with long bars in the direction of the trend and some congestion zones (countertrend areas) …… a picture is better than 1000 words
