Disliked{quote} It is very risky position to take when there is a news & it is always better to close the trade before the news hits. I assume it would be called gambling rather trading trading, irrespective of the trend, trade can go on other side. if it wasn't the news spike then it is a good position to take indeed. can you please tell me which MA are you using? You will find 2 schools of thought concerning these trades on the thread.
Some believe that some market movers know the news well before it is released, and large positions are being built up to an hour out from news release.
I have taken some news trades where Genesis has provided good entry signals, and where I thought there was enough room to build a 20 ish pip profit before the news break. You can now set your SL say 15pips in profit 5mins out from the release, which on my broker will usually absorb slippage if the news goes against the trade.
You will be surprised how many signals Genesis generates that conform w news releases.
However, I agree w you to a certain extent, the news is unknown to us, and it has a 50% chance of going against you, the same as any other trade, but far more viscious.
So, I would still take a news trade if the conditions were right, for me, but I dont make it a priority. Its a personal thing.
One piece of advice I would give........be extra careful when High Impact News is in multiple lots, eg there are 2 or 3 red flag releases all at 1 time for 1 currency. Here there is a big risk that price will whipsaw wildly and you will get knocked out, even if you have traded in the right direction.
