I am a loner....that means I'm very happy alone. I am still along way from trading for a living but I believe I can.

my vision is to live a life of freedom, not tied down by the 8 to 5,rush hour, harsh boss.I want to move away from the city to a small town and live a cheap lifestyle ...basically surviving on 1% of my hopefully compounding account per month.

I just want to get away from the craziness of this rat race.
wo-yoy! wo-yoy! wo-yoy! wo-yoi! wo-yoy-yoy-yoy!

Trading or a Lottery win are your ownly options, trading has bad odds 1 in 100 make it, but better than the lottery :-

2 tickets per week, 52 weeks per year for 50years your odds on a big lottery win ie millions are 1 in 2865
Nothing to it, but to do it!!! Stick to the plan FOOL!!!!

For the being safe you need to be rich already or it's just not worth it, so go hard keep the account at hobby expense level so you don't waste to much and just keep going.

I'm down $22 last week, couldn't catch 1 good runner but a 30 pip run will make me $40 for risking 8, hopefully get a Few winners and bring the stats back in line.

I trade off mainly the immediate live direction using a 15sma envelope 0.002% I think so 3-4 pips maybe 0.001% for GU, chop is a killer so just trade at times where the market is having the best moves, but that...

Thank you for your contribution to my thread.
I don't think I'll play fast growing this year, don't want to blow my first live account on the way this year.

Just curious..at what point do you decide to cut your losses (as applicable to new traders)? Given the thread topic, just wondered if newbies bother to wait for retracement signs or do they exit the trade immediately when the market seems to head in a diff direction?
Ignored
As a newbie, I can't tell if it's a retracement or if it's a change of direction.

Yes.

I wouldn't, however, wish away the years that I worked in an office because although I didn't really like the work, you meet lots of interesting people and, if you are lucky, some lifelong friends. I don't believe money can replace that.

Yes, there are benefits of being employed, I got free medical insurance too.

I will say yes, it is a happy life. For me at least. Besides trading I have a lot of free time which allows me to learn, explore and do new things. I don't know how many people can say the same. If I had to choose, I wouldn't do it any differently.

I have been actively trading currency for over 8 years now, I have been trading live for just over 3 years. I am 28 years old and I'm NOT a millionaire! I am not going to tell you some unrealistic story about how I now live in a mansion and fly a private jet to some exotic place to have breakfast. I have nothing to sell and I am only writing this because I wanted the truth when I was a newbie many years ago.

I had worked very hard for over 10 years in retail, helping to find solutions for customers. I was the type of worker who was 100% dedicated...

OK, forget about my beach house for a while and come to reality:

I've got 712 seeds in my pipfarm with gomarketsaus.com now.
I am not very happy with this broker since they had stopped web based and mobile trade platforms without informing me last year.
I also experienced MT4 server down for up to an hour and they never responded to my complaints.

So, I am shopping for a backup broker.
Oanda.com and forex.com are on my short list, will read all their disclosure documents before making a move.

Thank you for your recommendation.
Do you have dealing desk account with them or no dealing desk account?
I like the dealing desk spreads, but they have the rights to switch client from DD to NDD when they see fit.
That's a bit worrying.
And, they are in USA, a lot of people are moving away from American brokers, I am with gomarketsaus.com because they are in Australia.

American brokers have stupid rules and low leverage, US Citizens can only trade via US brokers.

NDD, DD is no scalping so no use to me, with DD as soon as your profitable they'll switch you as until then they'll not represent your trades and just take your losses, but atleast there honest about it it's what everyone else does they just dump you or requote you to death till you go away.

Be surprised if there isn't a Aus FXCM, they should let you open a UK account no doubt ??

There is a FXCM thread around you can ask a FXCM bod direction " Jason Rogers " I think.

Go for armadamarkets or icmarkets. Armada is the best though.

The life of a professionally trader depends of the individual. The professional traders at the firm I'm mentoring at has a few traders who only trade the New York and London sessions then go home and hang out on the beach for the rest of the day. Their are also traders who trade most of the day after they leave the office and wake up at 4:00 AM to trade the Asia sessions. Its about what you choose to do with your time. It also depends on your definition of happiness. If your trading for the money and the lifestyle the money will bring, that's not a good sign. Once you start trading with the mindset that you HAVE to make money, your timing and other factors go out the window. Never chase the markets, wait for the markets to come to you and your strategy.

I've read similar sentiments on this forum so many times, it's really concerning. Don't let it take over your life. As much as people on this forum don't like to call this gambling, this game can be addictive, just like gambling. You need to be able to switch off.

There is a big world out there. Go out and enjoy it.
Nothing worth having is easy.

I haven't had time to read the whole thread but if what you say is true you may well be getting into the wrong business unless.......

1. You build up your system
2. Build up your self discipline
3. Adjust your attitude to cope with the invariable losses.

good luck and don't chuck the day job until you are easily profitable, if ever.
