Biggest Gap on a weekend for EURUSD? Does anyone know?

Hey Fellow traders.

Does any trader know what is the biggest weekend gap for EURUSD in history ever noticed?

I just received email from my broker that trading will be halted over weekend and they are worried about the gap because of Greece news.

I am just trying to find out what is the largest gap ever in EURUSD rates from friday closing to sunday opening.

Any help will be appreciated.

I dont know exactly but if you are using Oanda and MT4, use ATR (1) and check each sunday for the greatest range and most likely will be one of the biggest falls.

Otherwise if you have a normal broker manually check it.

I got an email from Oanda as well, but I dont imagine it will be more than 200 pips at most. If it falls that far there will be buyers that expect global intervention and risk may rise.

If I were you just close all positions.

Yes I got email from Oanda. I do not understand what would happen to open positions and pending trades during this time.

Like I have a short sitting at 1.27, and I have moved it to break even. But now, if Oanda gaps up after the weekend, would my short close at break even or the new market price after the gap or would not close at all? I am really confused with this, so seeking help from everyone.

Also, I wanted to know what if the Gap is 300 pips and my short gets closed at market price instead of closing at my break even, I may get margin call, as such, needed to understand how large a gap can normally be.

Any help and idea is appreciated. Thanks.

If the market gaps around your stop your order will be filled at the "first available price". Read you trading contract. Clearly they are exepecting a gap and are giving you "fair" warning above and beyond the agreement that you signed when you opened your account. It is uncommon but not unheard of to experience 400 pip gap. I think Onada is being more than fair in giving you notice. My dealer hasn't said a word and told me that if I think there may be an issue I should "make appropriate decisions and take appropriat action to protect my account BEFORE close of business on Friday."

Word to the wise.
Yeah!!! Next Monday might be very unpredictable. Some interesting thought about this I read on one of the forex blogs. If you are interesting in fundamental analysis you might read it.

hi folks. im new here. this is my first post. just wondering about the big greek election on sunday. am i right in saying if the syriza party get in it looks bad for euro. and if the Democracy party get it look good. ive heard there could be a move of 200 to 300 pips on monday. so id like to get in there. so what are peoples plans to catch this train

thats an interesting set of results,i wonder what the results would look like if for example you implemented a fixed stop,lets say 50 pips.

ive studied this on the ftse ,were it generates upto 20 trades a wk.what i discovered was that regardles of how you play with stops or no stops at all it always averages out back to aprox equals.im sure theres a way to tweek the maths to our favour but unfortunatly i havnt discovered how yet.although i have developed a method which until now has a positive outcome.its a very interesting way of trading and has highlighted a number of quite strange price movments that can be exploited.
