i doubt it can be done, they use server time instead of client time

If metatrader uses the server time, does anyone know of a broker who runs their server time on pacific coast time? i am currently using IBFX , which is GMT, although i live in southern California. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only broker I know of that runs a data feed off Pacific time is E-signal and does not offer a Metatrader platform unfortunately. I made a spread sheet of different broker times, thats the only reason I know. I did a backtest with one of my current trades off the day chart. It was amazing how much the close time of the daily candle affects the trade.

Thanks Vensik for the info. I used to use e-signal awhile back but got tired of paying the monthly service fees. Metatrader is a better platform, just wish I didn't have to figure the GMT timeframe all the time. Oh well maybe a server will come along soon on the west coast.

Here's a post on the difference between a PST, EST, and GMT close of a daily candle on the same trade. Same trade, completely different results. I found the backtest very interesting.

Yes. You also have the option of adding local time.

Hi pbaskhar,

Old post but maybe these indicators might be of help...

1. Or this one which draws vertical lines for different timezones....
2. This indicator displays 6 different timezones in bottom left hand corner
3. Or this one which shades times below in a seperate window

Hope they help

Regards,

Joe

It can be done with a custom expert that rewrites incoming data to an offline chart and then updates in realtime, however it can be kinf of clunky (you lose the ability to change timeframe on the spot for example)

Hey

Does anyone have an indicator for MT4 that draws vertical lines from a certain time to a certain time? I want it to be 5est-5est. I know GetSmart posted one but it doesnt seem to go far too many days for some reason.

Never mind the built-in time separator on MT properties is exactly what I wanted.

Assuming I understand misterboy correctly (the post was made in 2008, btw), press F8 to obtain Properties, then follow the screenshot below.

Or simply press Ctrl-Y to toggle the separators on/off.

thanks so much for posting these metatrader indicators

the MT4 clock is exactly what i am looking for. However, it is posting the wrong hour, putting NY an hour ahead and London 3 hours ahead. Playing with DST (Daylight Savings Time) actually makes this even more off.

Does anyone know how to fix this??

thanks!
