I have found this information. do not know if it's true

Standard account:
1.00 lot = $10.00
0.10 lot = $1.00
0.01 lot = $0.10

Mini account:
1.00 lot = $1.00
0.10 lot = $0.10
0.01 lot = $0.01

i have been looking at Position Size at http://www.earnforex.com/position-size-calculator

and I have entered this

Account currency usd
Account size 1000
Risk Ratio, % 1
Stop-Loss, pips 100
Currency pair eurusd

and it says

Money, USD 10.00
Units 1000
Lots 0.010

both Standard and Mini account have 0.01 lots

which account should I Trade with?

Well if a standard lot of Eur/Usd is worth $10 per pip, and a mini lot is worth $1 per pip, and your risk is 1% of $1000, and your stop is 100 pips, which one would you choose and why?

Give it a shot, if you think about it then it should make sense.

There is no reason for you weather to choose standart or mini account. If you have initial balance of 1000USD you will always be able to open a mini lot of 0,1 or 0,01 and the systems will still apply. That way you will be able to choose weather to open a position on 1(real) lot or to open 0,1-0,01(mini or micro) lot

And how exactly is having a one 'real' lot position going to fit in with a 1% 100pip risk on a $1k account?

I said he will be able to fit it as he will be able to open positions at 0,01lot as well as he can open a 1Lot position

It makes you wonder that after 3+ years he still hasn't grasped the idea of trade size, it doesn't bode well for his trading career!

Try this indie which is something I have knocked up myself with huge help from others. There are two versions, one displays the tick value, spread and how many micro lots to trade to risk x % of your account (change it in the inputs section). The second version just displays the x pips at x % = x micro lots. Hope this helps.

Cannot believe it, either he cannot calculate simple math or something is really wrong here. Even a newbie can calculate what's been posted above and come to the right answer..
All I can add here to the poster is to head back to school..before something else happens!

I also made a Java program for myself that automatically pulls current rates from a server.

http://www.filedropper.com/mmcalculator

It's as simple as it gets. The output it gives you is in LOTS. So, if it says 0.04 Lots, then its equivalent to 0.4 Mini-Lots, or even 4 Micro-Lots.
