Has anyone ever used or have any info good or bad on interactivebrokers.com ? Thinking of opening a second account with more trading options such as futures, options, bonds etc. you get the picture. Thanks in advance for any info....

I used them for a while, but I never cared for their platform. Not even remotely user-friendly, really. It has some powerful options available, but finding them and getting them to work consistently was a challenge. I always felt that if I had the desire to create my own trading platform, leveraging their technology would be great...but I'd actually have to go through the process of creating that interface for myself...too much of a hassle.

I looked at them, couldn't work out their platform or the mess regarding info on their website and just gave up. It made me wonder whether they really want new clients.

No self-respecting professional trader uses their TWS client. Thats why there are tons of third party professional trading platforms. Ninja-trader and Sierra Charts are couple of good ones.

IB has tight spreads but many people are turned off by the 50:1 leverage limit on Forex. But, I like it because you can trade multi-asset classes and their commissions are really cheap.

I found Sierra there but no Ninja?
Just wondering.
Their prices look good and I can trade it all in one spot.

Ninjatrader doesnt support FX tradeing through IB, only futures (and maybe equities, not sure). Ninjatrader only supports Gain, as far as FX-Brokers are concerned, which is a pitty.

I trade through interactivebrokers.com for more than a year now. The worst thing as mentioned is charting, not to be relied upon. However, the best, which won't be available anywhere else, is the universal account where you can trade stocks, bonds, futures for everything on various exchanges in the world. I don't trade forex through them, I have a separate forex account with another market maker, but my main futures and stocks trading is there. The huge amount of order types is a great plus, the platform is very fast, both, feed wise and execution wise. All in all, they have lots of features, but their real edge is the universal account and the commissions, although the commissions for stocks are only cheap if you are trading high valued stocks since they charge on a per share basis.

Thanks,

Nader
